only familiar with the latter two... of those its Black Sea.  The next era of records will be a tougher choice.

They were a band that got progressively better over the course of those albums.  My last acquisition from that era was Go2, which I was holding out on getting because I feared it would be too much like the first one, but I rather like it.  Crowded Room in particular.  Still I had give a look down my nose to Black Sea.  Travels In Nihilon is really intense.

Are you running these in sets of four or do you have distinct eras in mine?

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

For me,putting the albums in groups of four represents eras as well. In my mind at least.LOL

I think I'd group their last two as an era and maybe split the in betweens.

Anyway. I voted for Go 2. They are all excellent albums but Go 2 was the first I bought. The first i heard was the Science Friction EP ( now on the CD of the first album) and the aforementioned first album. Go 2 really got me into them though.

I think with XTC you need to be a little more patient.  And I guess it shows why they aren't on this site yet.  Personally I think they'd be a good addition for crossover.

So you want to go for the gold and launch the polls for the rest? I'll leave the ball in your court since you launched the first one.  Three more should do it.

Speaking of which, where the hell is Frippism?  I know he has to be a fan. Big smile

Voted for 'Drums and Wires' its the first XTC album I ever bought and I still love it.  Also Making Plans is one of the best singles ever ever in my mind! That's ever!

Enough already, very difficult choice for me between Black Sea and Drums and Wires, both of which I love for differing reasons. Opted for Black Sea in the end, with the only demarcation criteria being that they appear to have matured as musicians sufficiently to have dispensed with the proviso of aggression vouchsafes sincerity innit?
