All fusion fans should be familiar with this name. He's the Keith Emerson to Billy Cobham's Rick Wakeman. (if Keith Wakeman were as popular as that guy from Rare Bird that plays Viv Savage in Spinal Tap).
He's played with all the greats, yet he doesn't seem to get the love other fusion artists get. If you're not familiar, check him out with Larry Coryell's 11th House, the first Weather Report album or one of his many solo releases, the most revered being "Brain Transplant" "Virtue" and "Funky Snakefoot" |

The Coryell stuff is good. 
Has a few regrettable tracks and some really smokin' JRF. I did have the misfortune of ordering one his solo albums used that was listed as a Larry Coryell album. It was a disco record and Larry was nowhere to be seen. ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
