Oh?

To the OP: Moon Safari either borrow a lot from or simply are very much in the vein of classic symphonic prog, therefore, "in the prog genre", there's that. For instance, I don't remember any other band to have taken so much (and blatantly) from Rick Wakeman.

Hi seabirch, I like Moon Safari, as do many members here. I only have their second album "Blomljud", but it is really good. I really enjoy the vocal harmonies.
If you're looking for similar bands, there's The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, Beardfish, Neal Morse, The Tangent, Karmakanic. But I think Moon Safari trumps them all in the vocals department.

A.C.T. are very similar to Moon Safari. I suggest you check them ous as soon as possible.

Beardfish should be a pretty safe bet methinks. Also a lot of the bands that darkshade suggests might please ya.
Maybe Kaipa, if you can handle some good ol stuff:

I don't consider "Lover's End' prog, sorry

I guess I'm not the only one with this opinion and I quote from one of PA's reviews(Special Collaborator...):
After first album's listening, it was quite difficult for me just to describe this music. Pop-
rock, based on West Coast tradition from late 60-s? But musical part is almost pure
electronics. OK, there are very simplistic drums and some guitar sounds, in part acoustic.
Surf-pop for 21 century? Again, almost in every composition you can find some ,often very
small, but existing symphonic pop-rock arrangements. OK, not the genre's tag is matter.

'Lover's End' was my 1st and after the heavy diappointment I gave them up I'm correcting my mistake right now

Know one cares.
Shouldn't it be "no one cares"?
As for the OP's question see these:

I don't care if they're prog or not,I've been digging them since A Doorway To Summer. When I'm down I play some MS,it's "happy feel good" music and always lifts my spirits.

I would say that nearly 70% of the symph prog subgenre sounds like Moon Safari, but I'm no expert on those sounds.

Yea, Ive heard a lot of symphonic prog, and Moon Safari do have their own thing going on. Sure there is some Yes influence (but what symphonic band hasn't been inspired by Yes?), but their writing style mixed with the lush vocal melodies, gives Moon Safari their own sound.

Besides Yes, the influence by The Flower Kings is pretty obvious.

I'm interested in that kind of "peace" and "sunny" musics too.
So far, I've found:
- O Terço - 1974: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NlooM2IBkE
- Spock Beard - The Doorway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGvt-xN0rK0
- Trees - Snail's Lament: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgxrSa9uR-4
- Bacamarte - Passaro de Luz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcbWGSMSD50
Without citing a lot of songs from Supertramp, The Moody Blues, Magna Carta...
If you have advices for others band/songs, i'd be greatly interested.
Thanks in advance!

I recommend the band Ritual. They are also swedish. I suppose anyone who likes Moon Safari would also like the Flower Kings but I kind of doubt anyone would know MS but not TFK.

This song by an a capella choir - Perpetum Jazzile reminds me of Moon Safari:

Holy smokes that was fantastic. I saw and listened to their version of Africa on youtube also which was really great as well. This group takes that song to a whole other level.

If we're talking about Air, I love their stuff. So glad I stumbled onto them. Moon Safari's my favorite album by them.
I'd call their stuff prog; sort of a modern hip prog. Tasty, sophisticated, and urban. Sounds great in airports too for some reason...
