Looks like info has possibly, not 100% on the verifiability, been leaked regarding a new album for this year, entitled 'Noctourniquet'! Yay!

It's legit- it's a picture of the as of yet unreleased Sony game MLB 12, which features a Volta track from the upcoming album called 'A Zed And Two Naughts'.
The album, Noctourniquet, is released on March 27, and that game (and therefore the track) on March 6.

Yeah, that's the only pic of the artwork so far unfortunately, it's by Sonny Kay. Warner STILL have yet to make an official announcement, because they are a****les.

The album would have come out a year ago if they weren't such a****les.

Wonder if it's the same music they played last summer at a gig I saw. They did an hour's worth of unreleased stuff, some of which was stunning, plus three old songs.

I've Heard rumours that they've stripped it right back to basics. And aren't using any of the percussion and as much keys just the band. Self titling it as 'Future Punk' Sounds interesting! Looking forward to hearing it, but I hope they tour it soon and the fact that At the Drive in have reformed I hope doesn't distract the attention away from the Mars Volta.

I would like something like De-loused again, but I know they are never gonna go that route. That album was their most surreal. Frances second. I also really liked Octahedron, that one is full of beautiful melodies. They should utilize those more. Love this band, can't wait.

It seems nice that all of the compositions are more concise with less of the weird instrumental noodling.

They got in a lot of arguments during the creation of this album so maybe they'll break up soon Shocked

Well someone told me they know someone who knows people in the Mars Volta camp, and that he overheard some things about a possible break up. Ive also been reading some somewhat negative things online, such as the whole Omar-dictator thing, and stuff about former members feelings about leaving/getting kicked out, and in-fighting with the current line-up.

I hope all of this all stays what it is; rumors.

It'd be a bummer if they broke up, but it definitely seems possible. Also, it seems reasonable to quit while they're ahead. But Omar and Cedric seem to be great friends and aren't nearly as angsty as they were with the ATDI members back in the day, so maybe everything will be fine.

I believe and hope the band is going to continue making music, but as more of a band instead of a one-sided dictatorship. But in an excerpt of a soon to be released Finnish interview Omar said that right now he's very tired of even thinking about TMV, perhaps making Noctourniquet was a really exhausting experience.

This.

Or they could give the reigns back to Omar - seeing that worked very well LOL
But i don't think he enjoys that too much anymore, he called himself a dictator in an interview you linked.

It's very good, better than I expected, though I can't say it tops the first 4 albums. It has some classic TMV songs, especially in the first half of the album. The first 5 songs are absolutely great.
There's a couple of songs that drag it down in the second half, though I don't recall the names of the songs right now, but they're a little boring. I'm still giving it more listens to sink in.
