Recently released debut album available from http://www.runegrammofon.com/artists/el-doom-the-born-electric/rcd-2122-el-doom-the-born-electric-cd/" rel="nofollow - Rune Grammofon .
Press information: Superb debut from ”young veterans” of the Norwegian heavy and
progressive scenes, fronted by singer, guitarist, writer and producer
Ole Petter Andreassen. This is classic, heavy, guitardriven and melodic
progressive rock in the region of Deep Purple, Rush, Opeth and Mastodon.
The playing and production is top notch with a perfect mix of solid
riffs, intricate instrumental passages and great hooks. The core of the
band, apart from Andreassen, is Hedvig Mollestad on guitar and Hammond
organ and brothers Brynjar and Haavard Takle Ohr from El Cuero on lead
guitar and drums respectively. Guests are Nikolai Hængsle Eilertsen from
Elephant9 on bass, Ståle Storløkken from Elephant9 and Supersilent on
Hammond, Mikael Lindquist on Hammond and Mellotron and veteran Jon
Eberson on guitar.
Review by Norway's largest newspaper VG: Prog-phantasmagoria. Where Ole Petter Andreassen's wildest prog rock fantasies unfold. El Doom & The Born Electric beats like Mastodon, meanders like King Crimson and plays guitar solos like Steve Hillage. They also have, uniquely in prog, a genuine girl on guitar and organs: Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen. An infernal show of hard rock riffs, bluesy vocals, constantly surprising and headphone friendly: Only people with limited imagination need fear this. Yeah, plus the still more retro-active Opeth, of course. There are new virtouses in town.

a band i saw today and bought a album and they strike me as strictly
heavy prog, with sludge rock elements, but closer to the PT then
Mastodon in the heavy realm but they should be regarded with interest
from the heavy team (also less heavy then Haken) stil progressive
though

Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen also plays in the Hedvig Mollestad Trio, who were suggested on here back in October: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82085" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82085 .

^ well he can't be in two bands on PA at the same time, and it means both bands will have to be stricken from the Archives. It's too bad.
I'm kidding.
