Hello there ProgArchives!

I am Gurbles, a gabber/death-metal musician from San Marcos, Texas. August of last year, I had put my main project, Kageegee (for anyone interested, and who loves hardcore techno: www.kageegee.bandcamp.com), on hiatus to explore the progressive genre more and even make some of my own. so I started a little project called Fragment. I soon realized that I should probably change the name to avoid confusion with other bands, so I named the Fragment logo "The HäXTiGRAM" and put it in my band name. by September, I had completed the first part of my 4 part concept album, "Birth, Life, Age & Death". Birth was somewhat of a starter album as it only totaled to 30 minutes. by October, I had made an hour long album called Life. it had generally longer, more stretched out songs than Birth, which had shorter, constantly changing songs. when November came around, I had completed my 3rd and (imo) greatest album, Age. it was the darkest album yet and had some ambient elements and a more death metal feel while still retaining the prog mentality of the last 2 albums. and now, this January, I have completed the series with Death, in which the last track, "As the Spirit Leaves the Body", counts in at exactly 20 minutes. as a music critic, I would say Age is my greatest, but as a musician, I think Death was my greatest accomplishment. I would suggest the songs "Inferno", "Fields of Remembrance", "The Symphonic", "Our Meaning", "The New Flesh", "Into the Light", and "In My Mind" to anyone who wants to try my music out. if you like those, you may want to listen to any other song, but those are my greatest. my influences include Dream Theater, Haken, Ministry, Godflesh, Soulfly, and Meshuggah. I would love to be part of the ProgArchives community and would love for anybody to review my music. constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. since I've started, I've been going virtually unknown except for a Battle-of-the-Bands-style competition and two minor shows at clubs in my current home in Australia. so let me know what you guys think of it!

thank you! Big smile
I also forgot to mention that I am currently working on a follow up EP to the BLAD series sometime soon, and a double album called "Planetarium" which will have a track for each planet, dwarf planet, major moon, and the Sun.

^ Anyway, which album do you consider is the most progressive?

Prog-Metal Evaluation Team is one of the busiest ones in Progarchives.
They'll check your stuff for evaluation ... please let them take time.

hmm, let's see... Birth, I would say, is a death metal album with progressive influences. Life was about the time where I wanted to make longer, more progressive pieces. Age is kind of like Birth with a little more prog added. and Death would be the midpoint of it all.

so I would have to say Death is my most progressive.

by the way... I also meant to classify it under Tech Extreme Prog Metal.

be warned that this is an ambient album, and is not the regular Fragment Häxtigram style. I does, however, contain many secrets and mysteries, some of which I did not even hide in...

hate to keep posting, but Planetarium, my "proggiest" album yet, is up and running along with H. I highly recommend the song "Titania", as it is more experimental than most of my past work. enjoy!

Interesting material, it reminds me of Blotted Science quite a bit. I'll bring it to the prog metal team.

Of all bands, they never really came to mind. Thanks for introducing me to them! I've also become a recent Ayreon fan through PA. And there's a bit of Gojira influence on Planetarium so far.
