Hallowed Be Thy Name or To Tame A Land.

To Tame a Land IMHO is a huge step in the evolution of progmetal. The rhythm is very discordant for a traditional metal band.

My vote goes to THe Man Who Would be King, the best song from THe Final Frontier IMO and one of the best (and proggy) songs ever made by Maiden.

So many great ones but Rime of the Ancient Mariner always gets my vote.Coming from the Bayley era I always thought Sign of the Cross was really good and pretty underrated.I saw them play it live with Dickinson a few years ago and they nailed it.

he even made a tom jones song sounds so amazing . BTW i vote for fear of the dark

Iron maiden are truely an incredible band and to pick one song definitively as being the best, in my opinion is next to impossible, but I would be happy to list off a few of the best epics and they would be for me,

1) RHYME OF THE ACIENT MARINER

2) HALLOWED BE THY NAME

3) 7th SON of a 7th SON

4). DANCE OF DEATH

5) THE TALISMAN.

Hey - Up The Irons !!!!!!!!
I am of the minor minority who consider 'Sign Of The Cross' Maiden's best epic.  I have most Maiden albums, I am aware that Bayley is no match for Dickinson, but Sign Of The Cross it is.

"Rime of The Ancient mariner" One of my top 5 songs of all time.

"Starblind", "Sign of the Cross", "Dream of Mirrors", "Mother Russia" and "22 Acacia Avenue" also come to mind.

Voted for "Powerslave".

"Alexander the Great" is the funniest Maiden song. Bruce sings quotes of history tutorial, very useful to those fans who were lazy to learn lessons at school. LOL

ok that's a really tough poll!
Which one to choose?
Between Phantom of the opera, Ryme...  and Hallowed...  ouffff....
Hmmm I'll go with Phantom of the opera, because It is from their first album,  I'm a fan of Dı Anno's period, and I think I love it a bit more than the other 2.
Phantom of the opera it is then! Thumbs Up

^^^ pretty great choices. I feel that SIGN OF THE CROSS is really underated and it's probably because BLAZE BAYLEY sings on it. overall, THE X FACTOR was a great album. It's VIRTUAL 11 that sucked.

Gotta go with "Phantom." First Maiden is best Maiden. "Powerslave" and "Rime" are close seconds perhaps...but where's "Caught Somewhere In Time?"

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son ; from the middle to the end of the song, this is pure prog metal majesty !
Also could have voted for Alexander the Great.

My two favorite albums by Maiden by the way (7th Son and Somewhere in Time).

Hallowed Be Thy Name.  I really think that song is an outlier from Iron Maiden; they really went beyond their ability with it.  They have lots of excellent classic metal songs, but that song is something special.

Other for me, The Isle of Avalon being my favorite, and the Nomad a close second.

Of those on this list, I'd have to go with Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. That's some fantastic Iron Maiden as well.
