Hello all and thanks for the great site!

I consider myself a newbie not only to this forum but also to the prog music. Well, I have listened to and loved some prog artists (e.g. Pink Floyd & Jethro Tull) for almost 20 years but progressive as a genre (not to speak of all its subgenres) has long been quite strange to me.
During the last year I started seriously to explore different prog artists and albums and this site has been of great help. I have only scratched the surface of the genre but already it seems as a treasure trove full of new, exciting music.

Overall, it's difficult to describe my musical taste in brief. I listen to many kinds of music from simple pop/rock to classical. I often like quite melancholic and contemplative music and also many kinds of psychedelic music. Most of my favourite artists&albums are from the 60's, 70's and 80's. There are some contemporary bands that I like (Radiohead, for example) but mostly modern mainstream music feels somehow shallow and soulless to me.
And regarding prog, I have so far explored mostly the big names of the early days who had been somewhat familiar to me, but whose albums I hadn't really listened to with thought: Genesis, Yes, Camel, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf Generator.
I've also found some interesting bands that I hadn't heard before: Gryphon and Magma. Gryphon enchants with its medieval sound and Magma's music is totally something else.

Some of my favourite artists: Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, R.E.M., Dire Straits, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Kingston Wall, Tori Amos, Cocteau Twins

So, I'm looking forward to participate the discussions in this forum. And no doubt I'll soon be needing some more recommendations.

Welcome, I'm also from Finland a bit.

Judging by your taste you should like Nick Drake, Scott Walker, Dead Can Dance and Nick Cave (perhaps you already do (and perhaps you wanted prog recommendations so no nvm)).

The Dead Cant Dance track "host of Seraphim" was used to eerie effect in the equally  eerie movie "The Mist" for me the best adaption of a Stephen King story ever put on screen.

Thanks, Vompatti. All recommendations are welcome. I like Nick Cave and Nick Drake. Scott Walker and Dead Can Dance I have heard of, but haven't actually listened to them. I probably will sooner or later.

Thanks someone_else. I haven't heard of that band before, even though it's Finnish. The album seems to be in Spotify, so I will check it out.

Thanks, a bit of a losing streak going on, but still the best regular season in history of the team Smile If Ilves is your team, they're my second favourite if I had to pick one, lots of sympathy for them. Too bad they're not doing so well.

I recommend the previous album by Tenhi, called Maaäet. Haven't listened to the new one so much yet. I hadn't heard their music, but when Maaäet came out I saw the album at a record store with a sticker on the cover that said "Sigur Rós from the woods". I think that's the only time I've bought an album based on a sticker.

Yeah, Ilves is my team. I only hope that they won't get relegated and that the next season is better.
I hope that KalPa wins championship, because they haven't won ever before and they do deserve it.

I listened the Tenhi's albums Saivo and Maaäet. Based on the first listening they sound very good. Dark, but melodic and very atmospheric. The sound is quite unique, and instrumentation is great, I think. I'm not yet sure if I like the vocals; they worked well in some parts, but in some places sounded a bit forced. But very potential band. I think I need to listen more.
