Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres. The other Rush tracks, Manfred Mann's and UK are also excellent.

Thank God for Rush and Hemispheres!

For me, easily the best album of 1978.

I remember when I bought the new releases in 1978 by Yes, Genesis, Tull & ELP thinking to myself - don't worry they will soon retrieve their mojo...

Tough, but La Villa Strangiato gets it for me.

Rush's best instrumental.

I know I may stay alone but I think that "Martha's Madman" belongs to the very best recordings of the Earth Band.
I'm commercially depraved I suppose !

Whoa, this is a tougher one, could have been La Villa Strangiato or Elohim's Voyage, but I'll go with Squarer for Maud.

Oldfield,  National Health  or  Gabriel
Will hold off for now  :)

This was a hard one - so many good tracks!  This was a big year for me, giving me my first Rush and Pat Metheny.

1. Incantations Pt. 4.
2. Martha's Madman.
3. La Villia Strangiato.
4. On the Silent Wings of Freedom.
5. Phase Dance.
6. Please Dont' Touch.
7. The Trees.

Voted for UK - Dead In The Night although when it comes to the final I will switch to La Villa Stangiatio which for me is the absolute stand out track of the year. Both those tracks though have almost a jazz approach which is interesting. 1978 was a year when hardly anyone released symphonic prog. Punk really through a hand grenade into the prog scene.

Sorry, can't help you.

After listening through all the tracks once it came down to Weidorje or Oldfield. In the end I chose the latter.
