And call them freak monkeys with mediocre music.  http://www.spin.com/#articles/westboro-baptists-call-radiohead-mediocre-ridiculous-protest?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=031312" rel="nofollow - http://www.spin.com/#articles/westboro-baptists-call-radiohead-mediocre-ridiculous-protest?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=031312

Radiohead's concert last night in Kansas City drew in more than art-rock fans from throughout the Midwest. It also attracted a bunch of self-proclaimed religious folks known for picketing gay rights events, American troops' funerals, and Foo Fighters concerts. And the protesters from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, even brought their own attempt at music criticism. (They still like The Bends, you just know it.)

As http://www.ateaseweb.com/2012/03/11/radiohead-live-in-kansas-city-live-report/" rel="nofollow - - described the band as "freak monkey's with mediocre tunes," which is [SIC] on arguably multiple levels, depending on whether you're talking to a diehard Radiohead fan or not. Also: God hates correct punctuation, apparently. Although the British rockers sadly didn't stage their own counter-protest, as http://www.spin.com/articles/foo-fighters-protest-hate-filled-church-group" rel="nofollow - - quipping , "Highlight of the tour so far." Welcome to the freak-monkey house!

During the set, Radiohead played "Supercollider," a 2011 non-album single, for the first time on their current swing through our occasionally embarrassing continent. Listen to the band's performance of the pulsating electro-rock ballad, a leftover from the King of Limbs sessions and a mainstay of their 2008 tour:

Yeah...calling their tunes mediocre might be too much credit. Wink

You've got to be kidding me. Someone feed WBC excessive doses of Comus, Beefheart, Faust. They need it. Or rather, I need the laugh.

I don't understand why this sect protest: do they blame Radiohead for some political/social/philosophical reason or only because they don't like the music?

I know that Black Sabbath or the Sex Pistols had problems when touring, but their adversaries throw some (more or less) focused reasons.

They're right about the mediocre music part. King Of Limbs is pretty awful.

Aside from Pablo Honey, all of Radiohead's albums are at least great IMO. So far beyond mediocre in my eyes. Tongue

I've discussed this with chat buds.  We are all pretty much in agreement that the best thing to do is to ignore that publicity whore, but I bet there are some vets out there will repay the "favors" the WBC did to them.

Maybe he led a second life as an obscure and unknown prog musician, though this is quite hard to imagine. I'll checkout the "Unsigned bands" and "Welcome artists" sections one of these days .
