Talk Talk huge musical left turn is represented almost perfectly by these two beautiful, but similarly named tracks. Which is your favourite?

I believe in you from "Spirit of Eden" - still think this album is a stunner!

And "Laughing stock" was a worthy follow-up.

I was a bit surprised to discover this band here at Progarchives...being familiar only with their techno-pop debut album, which I briefly owned during a (thankfully brief) New Romantic musical phase in the mid 1980s.

But after picking up a copy of Spirit of Eden recently in my local library, I'm convinced: these guys were for real, and were willing to ditch commercial success for the sake of musical integrity.

I haven't heard the earlier album, but the track here doesn't have the same artistry (or cool groove) as the later song, one of my favorites from them.

I Don't Believe in You is my favorite track from Colour of Spring, and one of my favorites overall. The Spirit of Eden track is great too, but not as much of a standout.

Do I believe in them?

I think that the rumours that they existed are probably extremely well founded, so yes.

It's hard to not believe in them -
3 of the best albums I have ever heard to their favour ( logically, the last 3 ).
If there's a "lesser" song on the thoroughly brilliant "Spirit of Eden", then it's "I believe in you".
But that doesn't say much, does it ?
It's only a reason for me to slightly prefer the other one.

I thought spirit of eden went nowhere, I enjoy soundscapes and orchestral things but it just kept doing the same thing and never surprised me.
