We attended to the concert with Jean Marie from PA and Christophe, a close progfriend.

The weather was very nice (albeit slightly cool), as well as the beautiful Breteuil castle and gardens.

The concert was totally free, which is very pleasant.

It was in the "Orangerie", a spacious room which was sounding good.

Talking sound, it was not too loud, except at the very first row where Christophe and I were placed. Jean marie was smart enough to go at the very back of the room in order to preserve its ears.

The first part of the concert (the band "Ô-liostére") was surprisingly good, very prog to my ears, canterburyan in mind, leaded by very good guitar and a charming female flutist. The keyboard was very nice as well, using vintage organs effects. Even the rhytmic section was good. I'll try to get in touch with them in order to add them to PA, if they are interested in. Their music evoked the Muffins to me(in less complex) while my buddy Christophe compared them to Larry Coryell and Sweet smoke.

So let's come to Didier Malherbe performance in duo with guitarist Eric Löhrer. Eric Löhrer is a killer guitarist and Didier used a nice variety
of exotic wind instruments including a Malian flute but to us, the summit was reached with the indian flute which sent us to heaven.
There were a lot of pure jazz moments with several Thelonious Monk covers and we even had a little humorous sketch from Didier.

All in all an excellent musical moment!

Hi everybody,
Just few words to tell that I saw Didier Malherbe on stage in 1996 (Lille), and 2005 (Bordeaux).
It was with its world/jazz Hadouk Trio (Loy Ehrlich and Steve Shehan).
Both were part of my best Live experiences.
The atmosphere they set on stage is unique.
I greatly advice you all the Hadouk Trio albums, and "Live à FIP".
I wish I never saw Didier Malherbe play on stage with Gong ...

Hi,

The saddest thing about the Pacific Northwest ... is that stuff like this will never be seen or heard. And this area is too much into its heroes and idols to appreciate something else.

Yeah ... I wish I had a chance to see these things ... since they only happen in the really big cities ... but even LA and SF these days ... is not offering much in terms of new and different music. California these days is really a nasty pit that needs to fall off into the ocean for a bath! The star thing is getting really old and the perfumes are worse!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
