This is fine Progressive Metal, with a variety of other influences too. Band has been going in one form or another since 1999 (bio on band website - see link in o.p.) so they've had time to get this right! Isn't the little gurgle-growl-thing in the song Sole Survivor a little similar to the gurgle-growl-think in the beginning of Bridges in the Sky?
