You are crazy AgiWacko

I cannot for the life of me choose between any of these. Gong and Magma are among my absolute favourite progressive acts - and Parliament/Funkadelic were one of my early musical loves.
No vote.
All you get is this pear

I expected apples and oranges, but got pears too.  No telling what will happen in the poll section here.

Seems weird for Gong to be on this poll.

I choose Parliament/Funkadelic. Tear the roof off the sucka.

I have loved all of them, but Magma.

This is what turned me onto Magma originally, by the way.

My vote goes to the quirky Gong. Magma scares me sometimes. Stern Smile

Guess I'm too white for  Parliament/Funkadelic, Magma's moderate doses of funk suits me better. Gong's great, but not Magma-great.

I do like this poll.  All three pretty off the wall unique acts.

GonG get my vote of course.  But I L O V E Funkadelic .  I'm a late starter with Magma and I still have some listening to do so I'm not sure yet what I think>

It's about time Prog Funk became a recognised subgenre.  There's already Jazz Rock and Funk Rock and Jazz Funk and Psychedelic Soul and so froth - time for Prog Funk, methinks.

No, we can't, 'cause I don't like 'em!

Gong is good, but i prefer Magma. No psychedelic politician funk for me, thanks!

Since we're talking about pears, then I would strongly recommend anybody into Gong getting a juicy one along with the fantastic Peel Sessions. To my knowledge the only release to feature Kevin Ayers on board. I just reviewed it, and had completely forgotten how good of a record it is.
And then together with a pear..... don't even get me started!

Nico is right on the money.

I'd also start out with Maggot Brain, but then again it still remains my fave from them.
All in all I tend to prefer the early years, but not by much.

or you could go the other, and probably more common, route taking you through the latter part of the 70s, where they traded most of their rock stylings in for a more funky sound:

These bands are linked by the freedom in their approach and expression.......though they may be very different in sound, they wrap up nicely in spirit.

You ain't kidding....I first heard that song man probably when I was 10 or so and the solo just blew me away.....Gotta remember that was still at a time when Jimi was the man with the 6 string, not that he is not now. But Jimi was all over the radio and Hazel/Funkadelic were not, you had to be a true Funkadelic fan to know that song way back in the day.
I have 3 copies of that album....Read up on the story behind the song, a bit disturbing...but it is George Clinton.
