I haven't seen any news around here, but apparently this has been news for a couple weeks now.

http://www.riversideband.pl/en/news/545-riverside-starts-working-on-the-fifth-album" rel="nofollow - http://www.riversideband.pl/en/news/545-riverside-starts-working-on-the-fifth-album

Also, this little update came out today.

Quote
I think it’s high time I wrote a few words about our latest recordings. I know that up until now, except one weird video and some photos, not much information has been posted about the progress in creating Riverside’s new album. I know, I’m aware of that. I admit that I’m not a big fan of exaggerating and hyping it up in advance. Instead of writing about what we’re planning to do, what we’re going to wear and what incredible stuff we’re going to eat and drink during the upcoming sessions, I preferred to concentrate on the hard facts. I know, though, that nowadays some information-hungry fans, who can’t get enough of new facts, get impatient and are quick to think that something’s wrong. For some, not being able to access new information 24/7 is hard to accept. We live in a time when not answering your phone is easily interpreted as rude and sends a message to the caller that you're ignoring them when, in fact, you just may not feel like talking or need some privacy. What privacy? A majority of professions now require you to give up your privacy—you have to be available all the time. Also, ones private life is often exposed and made public thanks to some people who make their living doing this.

Yes, that’s right. I’ve just said a few words about the new lyrics that are being written. The music is already composed. The sketches that we recorded in March have been edited and we've selected some parts, gotten rid of some things, and introduced some others. Now we’re recording what should be there in the end. How many songs will there be? Most probably, eight. There will be one longer song, and the others —all shorter than... six, seven minutes. Now it seems the album will be more or less fifty minutes long. We’ve already recorded the drums and bass for five tracks. This week we’re recording some guitar and keyboards parts.

The Serakos studio in Warsaw changed its location while I was recording Lunatic's Impressions and is now bigger and much better equipped. I had to come back here. I can already hear that this is going to be our best production but I'm not only referring to the recording. I was uncertain of what would come out of this album. At the end of last year I still didn’t have a clear idea about it. I didn’t know which way to go. And then I asked myself,” What is it that I enjoy most about our music? And as a band - what haven’t we discovered yet, which alleys and corners haven’t we fully explored? What do we need to do for this album to have its own specific character and sound?” So we sat at our rehearsal place, we drew some stuff on paper and began to learn the new songs. Now we’re in the studio and slowly, note by note, we’re transferring it all onto the hard disc. And you know what? It’s good.

I was never really sold on Riverside until ADHD came out and that blew me away, so I'm looking forward to see what they come up with next.

I only have ADHD, Memories In My Head, and Second-Life Syndrome, and I agree that ADHD is their best album (from what Ive heard), MIMH is similar to their first 3 albums, and though I like it, I like the more energized sound of ADHD than the deeper and Tool-inspired sound of their earlier albums.

Love Riverside but confess that ADHD was my least favorite of their albums ... if I have such a thing as a least favorite Riverside release. Can't wait for the new one. Hoping that they will tour the USA finally.

they haven't disappointed me yet, and that's rare in a band, so i'm looking forward to this with excitement.

Brilliant band.

Second Life Syndrome has been their best album, representing them best. In my opinion.

That's funny, I like everything they've done except Memories in my Head and I see nothing from Tool in their newest. If anything, the Tool influence was on their earlier albums.

MIMH is alright, it's too short. I do like SLS a lot. I just like ADHD more.

I see. Memories, in my opinion, seems too unidirectional.

"SHRINE OF NEW GENERATION SLAVES" - THE FIFTH RIVERSIDE ALBUM!

Monday, 03 September 2012

The title of Riverside's new studio album (fifth in their career) has been revealed. It is "Shrine of New Generation Slaves" and the band will be continuing their work on it for the next two months in the Serakos studio in Warsaw. There will be 50 minutes of music on it divided into 8 completely new pieces.

"In 2012 we've been focusing on the work on the new album, and trying to prove, mostly to ourselves, that we can still surprise with something, and what's most important - create an album that would become our showpiece, music-wise and lyrics-wise" says Mariusz Duda, the band's leader. "The title might sound a bit intricate, but the acronym will definitely explain what we did with our music this time."

The predicted release date is the end of January 2013, but still this year (somewhere around November) we all are going to get to know the first single, and the video for it. The album will be released by Century Media/Inside Out and Mystic Production.

Without listening? Hmm, in other cases that would be unacceptable, but then again this is Riverside, so go ahead. LOL

This is gonna  be interesting.  I just love these guys to death.  The first listen was "WTF did they doooo????" but I like it better with each try.  If it is a grower, that's good, it took time for me to like ADHD, but now it is probably my favourite so far.

Can we at least wait for the album to be released before the sell-out accusations start? Some people... that said, first impressions from the promo are so-so, but that's probably for the best. I don't want my expectations to be absurdly high.

15.5 pounds??? That is the reason I don't like Burning Shed. They don't distribute in the US, so I have to either pay a stupid amount of USD for the CD or wait until last minute for a US distributor to sell it.

I actually kind of like it.

The music sounds like something you'd find on the recent Beardfish albums. And i like the vocal performance.
It is too long for sure though. Should be a bit shorter and could be similar to Frances the Mute's, The Widow. A real oddball track, more mainstream and shorter.
