Two songs that are rather similar to these ears, both of which I like very much.

Which do you prefer?

Y'know, I like both groups but never cared for either song too much. Can't decide.

Both fine songs, but I love the Softs one more.

Hadn't heard any of these before checking them out on Spotify now. Liked both. Can't decide which one I liked best, though, so no vote.

Love both.  I'm not sure.  Musically, perhaps I'd give an edge to the Soft Machine one, but "God Song" has huge sentimental value as it's one that I would play pretty incessantly during a tragic time in my life.  "God Song" is one that I would have difficulty putting on to now because of the memories I associate with it, but it's one that still plays in my head a lot.

I''ll just say both.

Dedicated is a Hugh Hopper composition, God Song is written (I believe) by  Robert Wyatt . Dedicated is a hippy freak song, lyrics in the style of Lennon's metaphysical work, God Song is a cry of help, asking about god's existence. Dedicated has been covered more times (e.g. Caveman Hughscore, Keith Tippett - and even the BBC recording by SM is a RW's solo but quite different from the Volume 2 version). Therefore Famous parabolic versions for me....................

God Song for me, although I do enjoy the other. Prefer the version on Keith Tippet's album with the same title though. Fantastic album!

SM's magnificent ballad. "God Song" is ... hehe, goofy, but the music for that one is also brilliantly written.
