One slightly unusual feature of King Crimson is that every one of their studio LPs (except Beat) has had a title track. So which do you like best?

I included Beat's "Heartbeat" for the sake of completeness, and crunched multi-part songs into one.

My personal choice is "Discipline". There are several good contenders on the list, but nothing beats the wacky rhythms on that one for me.

It's a dead heat between Lizard and Islands, but I went with Lizard.

Every song here are amazing but I think I'll choose Islands today

Damn you. It's between Islands and Larks'.

Well, I like Islands more than any part of Larks' but since first two parts are joined, Larks' does win.
Islands just can't stand ultimate power of first two parts put together.

What do you think of it? Competes with their "Classic Period"?

I was never a big fan of KC. I tried, but their music is very weird for my likings.
Exception the first 2 albums which are very good ones!
So I voted for "The Court of the Crimson King"... Smile

It's difficult between Court, Lizard, and Larks. And Red is pretty good too. But since there are parts of Lizard that I don't like su much (everything after Bolero), and I don't like Larks part 1 so much, I go with Court.

Just keep trying and you'll adjust to the weird until it sounds normal!

But my vote goes to Larks'. Can't beat the raw power (on Pt. 2) and intense beauty (on Pt. 1 & 2) of Larks'.

There is "Starless", which is on Red, indeed.
There is also "Starless and Bible Black", which is on album called "Starless and Bible Black".

So, Starless and Starless and Bible Black are two different tracks.

Yes, and while Starless is usually voted the best KC song of all (if not the best prog song) Starless and Bible Black is a somewhat aimless improvisation that is not generally well liked.

You are absolutely right.  I can't believe that I made such a schoolboy error!  Mind you, even the lyrics of Starless say (at the end of each verse): 'Starless and bible black'.   No excuse though....!

I wish I could change my selection now.  I should have chosen 'Red'.

My favorite live DVD is probably Three of a Perfect Pair: Live in Japan.
My favorite live CD package is The Great Deceiver(especially disc 2 in Providence, RI June '74), which is excellent, although I think it might be out of print now.

I like even better "Collectible King Crimson, Vol. 1", which has two concerts from the same era, and my very favourite version of Starless, Exiles, and 21st Century Schizoid Man. Plus one of my favourite versions of Easy Money.
