The question is simple: who do you think is better?

My vote goes to Bruford.

I vote Peart, but it's damn close. Bruford is extremely good.

I'm just listening to LTiA. Bruford is stellar! I love his gentle, but sometimes also aggressive playing.

Bruford. I'll take his playing with Yes, King Crimson, Genesis and UK over anything Peart did with Rush.

After some thought, went with Peart, which surprised me a little.  But in the end I had to admire his composer's approach to drumming -- writing the perfect part for the music and then challenging himself to replicate it on stage -- as opposed to Bruford's more spontaneous invention, using his skills and invention more on the spot.

Bruford, a far more creative drummer IMO.

Another aspect: While the musical career of Neil Peart is almost exclusively associated with the (somewhat monothematic) band Rush, Bill Bruford is much more productive and versatile, his work includes Jazz, Fusion, Symphonic Prog, Eclectic Prog, Crossover etc. Peart's drumming is technically perfect, but it seems to me without a soul. Unlike Bruford ...

Indeed!  I once saw Bruford and Patrick Moraz onstage, with only grand piano and Broof's drum kit.  It produced a veritable wall of improvised, sweet progressive jazz.

No contest.  Bruford.

I think that indeed versatility and diversity are the key here, Peart is one of the best drummers in prog rock but the judgement of his playing abilities is hampered by his long stay with Rush, while Bruford has shown his amazing talent in much more diverse circusmtances.

My vote goes to Bill even if I surely love Neil's drumming.

For me, this is really too close to call, but i'm going to go with Neil.

Peart is my favorite drummer, but Bruford is probably a superior player.  Since the question was "Who's better," I vote Bruford.

Huge fan of both, but I think, Neil, without a doubt, is the best drummer to have ever lived.

Bill Bruford, if only for his diversity. Peart is fantastic also, but we haven't seen many style changes or had a chance to hear him do anything different.

Perhaps he thinks it is a picture of Neil Peart (taken at a funny angle).  The name ByTor2112 certainly suggests a strong admiration for Rush.

For me Neil Peart is the better rock drummer, but Bruford is more versatile and spontaneous - hence his great success in the jazz idiom.  I think Bruford is also more experimental - so overall is probably a better prog drummer.

I thought everyone would get that this was not serious. Apparently I was wrong.

@Greenie, I know it's Bruford there.

Posting in CAPITALS made me think it was serious tbh.

I thought that exactly posting in capitals would make people realize it's not serious.

I know it's become fashionable to dislike Peart and it's a prog sin to say a word against Bruford, but Peart's drumming just speaks to me in a way that Bruford's doesn't. I never get chills from listening to Bruford the way I do during the ending of Limelight or all of Circumstances.

In that case, definitely Peart. He has been hardened by personal tragedy and could focus that pain into becoming an unstoppable berserker in a fight.

That is actually not a very bad idea, but it wouldn't fit on Prog Polls. It's about music here, right?

I'm sorry, but I can't vote this time.
My heart says N.Peart, but according to logic I must vote fort B.Brufford. Confused
So, no vote for me!
