A friend has told me of this band which has released a dozen of albums starting from 1989. He's a friend of the band founder Dither Craf and while I'm waiting for this my friend to lend me 3 CDs I've found some samples on myspace.

They sound to me like a mixture of Kraut and Floyd so they may be suitable also for Psych/space and even Neo (as RPWL).

Free download here:

http://archive.org/details/MushroomsPatience-WeirdMonsters-Atrofact014ia" rel="nofollow - http://archive.org/details/MushroomsPatience-WeirdMonsters-Atrofact014ia

On this page they define themselves as Ambient, Krautrock, Post Atomic, Folk, Electronic, Drone, Industrial.

The band is multinational (Austria and Italy) as Dither currently lives in Rome. .The most recent release is from 2011.

Some samples from youtube:

A Floyd cover very different from the original. Barrett would have liked it.

Good listening. Take your time and try listening to all the tracks. Honestly I don't know to which team send them, I'd start with Kraut first.

What about your own team? A lot of this stuff sounds pretty close to Avant Prog to me - it's certainly experimental, abstract, ambient sounding music...and a fair bit of it would fit in Psych/Space too as you suggested. I suppose Krautrock would be another option, since that style of music isn't too dissimilar either, but this is primarily an Italian based artist (and essentially just one guy!), so I dunno. Discogs certainly has them down as avantgarde: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Mushrooms+Patience/-Releases/-Albums" rel="nofollow - http://www.discogs.com/artist/Mushroom's+Patience/-Releases/-Albums
"Italian avantgarde band based in Rome. Their music melts acid jazz, noise, electronics, experimental sounds and improvisation.

They formed in the early 1980s and released various cassette demos via their own label Atropina Manufactory. The debut on vinyl came in 1991 with "Dicer's Oath". Mushroom's Patience continued to exist in the underground and to release very limited and hard to find material, until they signed for Austrian label Hau Ruck!, which reissued many of their deleted records on vinyl, as well as brand-new works on CD.

Raffaele Cerroni (aka Dither Craf, aka Domus Craf) is the mastermind, leader and solo member of Mushroom's Patience. Many different people were part of the band during the years, for example Jürgen Weber and Frl. Tost (Novy Svet), ClauDEDI (Ain Soph) and Flavio Rivabella (Der Bekannte Post-Industrielle Trompeter).

Since 2010, Mushroom's Patience are signed to Klanggalerie who will continue to release music by this outstanding project."

They certainly belong on the site - they're quite similar stylistically, I suppose, to The Legendary Pink Dots, who we have on here in Psyche/Space.

Pretty accurate summing up of their style in this review of the album 'Water', released in 2005: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/mushrooms_patience/water/" rel="nofollow - http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/mushrooms_patience/water/

Let's see what Andy/David/Steve make of it all...  Thumbs Up

I have thought to avant as well, but the myspace samples are a little different from the recent release on archive.org. The Floyd cover is very spacey and psych. I'm afraid that this will end to be one of those bands which are moved between the teams for years before being added.

I have just downloaded the free album. I hope that listening more carefully will make my ideas clearer.

Well, it has little chance of being accepted on neo, that's for sure.

I agree with Yam Yam. Avant seems a good bet, especially as OP kis on the teamShift+R improves the quality of this image. Shift+A improves the quality of all images on this page.

Splendid one, sounds never Neo nor Avant.
Ouirky electronika (a bit ambient-ish) with delicious psych essence can let me vote for them as a Krautrock combo, a bit ambient-ish for Kraut though. Thumbs Up

Still waiting for Dither Craf to send me the band's bio. I think I'll write down something, just to complete the addition. We can update it later.
