Lord of Emmentaler returns!!!
You can say what you want about Arjen, but he is no slouch.
Maybe he'll finally make an album I like...
Here's hoping at least.

Well, he doesn't take himself too seriously as you can see.  I really didn't like his Lost In The New Real album at all (though the cover versions on CD2 were actually pretty good.......but they were covers).  And the last Ayreon was pretty disappointing as well.  Here's hoping his break gave him some good creative ideas for this next one.  I'm sure I'll check it out.

He's gotta get back to HUMAN EQUATION level. That album I feel is his best. Liked his selection of musicians he choose, especially ERIC CLAYTON. he has to break that rule where he won't work with the same musician twice.

Few updates as yet guys, but Lori has posted a 'guess the instrument' competition today on the ArjenLucassen.com website: http://www.arjenlucassen.com/content/guess-the-instrument/" rel="nofollow - http://www.arjenlucassen.com/content/guess-the-instrument/  Apparently this is an instrument he has never used before. There is a short 20 second mp3 sample for download at the above link. Sounds a bit like a lute to me... Ermm

The instrument is actually an Irish Bouzouki. It's played by a fairly prolific Australian multi-instrumentalist by the name of Michael Mills, the driving force behind a band called Toehider, & who Arjen recently 'discovered' on Youtube. This guy's a pretty decent singer too!

Well, this isn't exactly 'news' since it was announced five weeks ago... http://www.progrockmag.com/news/ayreon-return-will-be-double-arjen-lucassen/?fb_action_ids=511937838863369&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582" rel="nofollow - http://www.progrockmag.com/news/ayreon-return-will-be-double-arjen-lucassen/?fb_action_ids=511937838863369&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582

Arjen Lucassen has confirmed his next Ayreon record will be called The Theory Of Everything – and it’ll be a double album.

The long-awaited follow-up to 2008′s 01011001 is pencilled in for release towards the end of the year.

Lucassen says: “I’ve finished recording demos of the music, I’m now about half-way finished with the lyrics. It’s going to be a double album, so there is a lot to write.

“It’s extra challenging as well, because lyrically I’ve left the old Ayreon universe behind, and I have to create a new one from scratch. I’m really excited about the line-up and how everything is progressing so far.”

He’s promised to update fans in due course. Smile

The new album is gonna be a continuation from the 00100100-1
Album. More of the human condition will greatly be explored. :)
Can't wait to see the guest musician line up.

Anyone know the entire cast yet?

Another guest keyboard player for the new Ayreon... this will be a bloody battle. Rick Wakeman. Now, I try not to get my hopes to high as to the roles of both keyboard players... I'm guessing each will play on one or two songs each, and that's all. But if only they were given room to play on more songs... and even perhaps both play in at least one song at the same time, and do some sort of keyboard duel... that would be so cool.

^ hope your right. It's always exciting to see who Mr. Luccassen will work with next.
I'd love to see Geoff Tate get smacked into one of his albums. Might help revive his career too. His music (Tate's) has been very weak for the 22 years. Lol

Mmm... are we sure this is an Ayreon album? It's starting to sound like one of thos Billy Sherwood prog star studded album...

OK, new information about this album. It will be a double album with 2 songs on each CD... kind of following the pattern of "Tales from Topographic Oceans". We still have to see if they will really be 2 songs,
per CD, or a bunch of songs strung together to make the length of Epic songs.

Arjen Lucassen announces a new Project for 2014...!!

Do we need a new thread...or just carry this one on?

From https://www.facebook.com/ArjenLucassenOfficial" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/ArjenLucassenOfficial :

"Time has come to finally disclose my new project... it will be a collaboration between my favorite female singer Anneke van Giersbergen and me! Expect an epic concept double album, a combination of ‘classical meets metal’ and ‘acoustic folk’. More details later!"

Apparently there are to be no keyboards on it...

I am still looking for what the Dutch are not masters into...  CHeese, meadows, flowers, intelligence, pod, hot girls and , of course, High quality Prog Metal! :-)

I am just sorry that Arjen did not went to a "happier"phase as in - Come back to Me - in which that keyboards run on our minds over and over.,,

As some of you may have already heard, Arjen's former manager Yvette Boertje is adapting 'The Human Equation' for the theater! There will be three shows in September 2015 in the Netherlands, featuring many musicians from the original cast. Arjen won’t be performing himself (being a recluse and all that), but he will be involved behind the scenes as an advisor. Check http://www.facebook.com/thetheaterequation" rel="nofollow - www.facebook.com/thetheaterequation or http://www.thetheaterequation.com" rel="nofollow - www.thetheaterequation.com for more information.

Arjen’s collaboration with Anneke van Giersbergen will be called The Gentle Storm. The album is planned for release in early 2015.

http://www.insideoutmusic.com/media/news/large/635483552311763540.jpg" rel="nofollow"> The Gentle Storm sign deal with InsideOutMusic

Arjen likes to say that his touring days are over, but he’s helped Anneke form a stellar band for live dates in support of the album. You can find out more at your favorite social media pitstop:

https://www.facebook.com/TheGentleStorm" rel="nofollow - - www.twitter.com/gentlestormband
http://www.instagram.com/gentlestormband" rel="nofollow - - https://www.facebook.com/annekevangiersbergenofficial
https://www.facebook.com/arjen.a.lucassen" rel="nofollow -

Having originally worked together back in 1998 on Ayreon's album 'Into The Electric Castle', and reconvening again for the seventh Ayreon album '01011001', The Gentle Storm sees the duo collaborate for a full double-album that will see the light of day next year. Anneke will also take the music on the road in 2015, backed by a band of Dutch musicians; however Arjen himself will not take part.

Arjen Lucassen recently picked up the Virtuoso award at this year's Progressive Music Awards, in front of an audience that included Peter Gabriel & Rick Wakeman amongst other progressive rock legends. Last year saw the release of the latest album from his Ayreon project entitled 'The Theory Of Everything' which featured guest appearances from the aforementioned Wakeman as well as Steve Hackett and Keith Emerson.

Anneke Van Giersbergen has also had an extremely busy 12 months following the release of her latest solo album 'Drive', playing live across the world with her solo band, Devin Townsend Project, and with Daniel Cavanagh of Anathema. She will also be playing a special anniversary show with former band The Gathering in November as well has having taken part in Devin Townsend's forthcoming new album Z².

However, I think I read about this album that it will not be exactly a full double album. It will rather be the same music played twice, in one CD there will be a sort of acoustic folksy version of the album, and on the other there will be a full metal symphonic album.
