Although it seems to have been there for a couple of years, I just discovered some early Genesis footage on the web, pre-SEBTP. Looks like you can download the videos for free although the files are quite large and the sound quality rather poor, but they're fun to watch and they play well on your Media Player.

Address: http://escargot.pick.eu.org/ -

Click on vcd

Username: music

Password: genesis

(no capital letters or you won’t connect)

Pick any of the following and then choose the extension .mpg to watch the videos on your Media Player:

rarevcd01 for Fountain of Salmacis, Twilight, The Musical Box, and Hogweed (no audience)

rarevcd02 for The Musical Box, Supper’s Ready, Hogweed and The Knife (all live in france with dubbed over French interviews)

rarevcd03 for I Know What I Like and Supper’s Ready (playing in front of green screen, no audience);

rarevcd04,05 and 07 for Seconds Out; rarevcd06 has no movie (all black).

Enjoy!

Nice site, I already had that 1. and 3. show. You should try running the 6. show in VLC media player, that's almost solid proof of it working or not - if it doesn't run in VLC, it doesn't run period.

What kinda bunch of camembert eating numbnuts would cut right in the middle of Ikhnaton', during Hackett's solo. Probably the same numbnuts who decided to overdub with french.

Wine gargling bastard nitw.....

Wow, the only one of these I've ever seen before is the vcd01. Thanks a ton for this, I love old video boots/clips of prog bands.

Great stuff!

Does anybody know, is there anything else intresting in this index, that one can download safely?

I haven't still even watched all of these treasures, but I just got curious...

Hey buddy!
What's the difference between rarevcd04 widescreen and normal rarevcd04?
And about other videos deleted (VDGG, Marillion, other Genesis...)?
It will able to download some day ?

RVCD04 is the In Concert movie from the 1976 "Trick" tour with Bill Bruford on percussion. It was released in cinemas and is not in the 4:3 aspect ratio that VCD has (or whatever the fixed NTSC VCD dimensions were).

If I remember correctly the "normal" version was slightly zoomed in and is missing a bit of the picture on the sides. After this was pointed out the RVCD crew released a widescreen version which has all the picture information but also very large black bars on the top and bottom of the screen.

I must point out that almost all the footage that was released by the RVCD project is now out in much better quality. New, lower VHS generation sources have been found and some people have spent a huge amount of time and money into getting these little gems out to the masses in the best possible quality. The famous Shepperton studios footage from 1973 has now even been transfered straight from an original 16mm film to DVD. Here's a post I made a week or so ago to another thread:

Quote You can get all the available (unreleased) Genesis footage for free from the various Yahoo trading groups. All you need is a computer DVD burner. If you don't have a burner you can always try to fix a b&p with someone (blanks and postage - you send a bunch of blanks and some stamps in a parcel to someone and get the wanted material back in a week or so). Don't give your hard earned cash to the bastards that rip desperate Genesis fans off by selling the material - and almost always in clearly inferior quality!

PAL trading group: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/epping_forest_dvds - http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/epping_forest_dvds
NTSC trading group: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/gmDVD - http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/gmDVD

Some screenshots from three EFDVD releases

http://www.saunalahti.fi/~kotti/bataclan/ - http://www.saunalahti.fi/~kotti/bataclan/

If you have a broadband connection you can download most of these releases too, check out the trading FAQ at the official Genesis forum for more information - http://hit.demonhosting.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi/YaBB.cgi?board=boots;action=display;num=1102628200 - http://hit.demonhosting.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi/YaBB. c gi?board=boots;action=display;num=1102628200

And naturally the clarity of both picture and audio is vastly superior in DVD compared to VCD.
