Höstsonaten

Höstsonaten is a musical ensemble active since 1996 and coordinated by composer and musician Fabio Zuffanti, prolific artist from Genoa (Italy) involved in many bands as Maschera Di Cera, Finisterre, Aries and Rohmer, just to name a few. A prominent figure in the Italian progressive rock panorama and known internationally through its various projects, Zuffanti was inspired for the group's name by a famous film by Ingmar Bergman ("Autumn Sonata"). The love for the cinema can also be felt in the atmosphere evocative of Höstsonaten's music that embraces progressive rock, folk celtic, classical and jazz. Zuffanti, among other things, is author of soundtracks, producer and writer.

THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER The musical project

After a string of hit albums with Höstsonaten Zuffanti started a new adventure in transposing in music the famous poem by the English writer Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" for create a sort of rock opera, or rather, a rock-symphonic poem. The poetry of Coleridge has always fascinated many musicians and Fabio could not be free from great power emanating from it, which foresee elegiac but at the same time supernatural, dreamlike and sometimes horrific atmospheres. In the early months of 2012 Fabio Zuffanti has completed the first of two albums dedicated to "The rime ..", published by AMS label ( www.btf.it" rel="nofollow - www.btf.it ) with worldwide distribution and a special edition just for the Japanese market  that has always been very attentive to the work of the composer from Genoa. The first CD includes the first four parts of Coleridge's poem, while a second album, scheduled for 2014, will contain the remaining three parts. The music is, if anything, even more symphonic, theatrical and majestic. In many cases very energetic with a touch of Celtic folk, hard rock, new-prog and many other elements unraveled in five long compositions. The vocals are handled by four different vocalist that explore the dreamy and dark emotions of Coleridge's poem.

THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER The play

Fabio Zuffanti' dream was to bring the the album in a theatrical version that could visualize the magic words and the music of the poem. Thanks to the meeting with Genoese director Susanna Tagliapietra, that worked in the musical world with her versions of "Grease," "Aida" and "Jesus Christ Superstar", the dream has become reality. Susanna has made available his theater company "T&M Live" to create a work based on the live music, sets, choreography, projections and stage actions. The show will be filmed for an official DVD which will be available worldwide in 2013.

SHe has no life, wait but there's two
Death and She Life in Death, they throw their dice for the crew
They win the Mariner and he belongs to her now
Then crew one by one, they drop down dead two hundred men
She , She Life In Death, she lets him live, her chosen one

cue twin lead guitar break...
