Hello to all you moozik aficionados!

Ok l think  should introduce myself Ermm I can’t describe myself except that I am quite a positive happy person, most curious and appreciative of new music.

Also, I have been a member here on P.A. since middle 2010, never introduced myself the reason is simply because I usually don’t comment on threads; I much prefer to read what others write/say which at times is quite entertaining lol

I decided to say hi, only because I cannot vote as a newbie L this sucks!

I will however not attempt to hypothesize the meaning of prog (especially considering the prospect readers here) nor try to sound that I am interesting because I am certainly not (sorry can't keep a straight face here, just the thought of me saying or trying to suggest such thing makes me laugh) too funny.

Anyway I am friendly, know what I like (this is a fact) and certain know too what I don’t J

Many thanks and friendly regards,

Sonia

haahaha AEProgman, thank you!
I love MAD people :) your avatar suggests you are an interesting character  indeed Big smile nice to meet you!
Thank you Hug
My taste is very diverse really, I am not phased by vocalists because in my opinion most are not good, who I most like, are David Byron (Uriah Heep) Freddie from Queen, oh wow I have a crush on Bowie since forever yep yes Embarrassed, another one is Daniel Gildenlow former Flower Kings and most known as Pain of Salvation.
This said I tend to follow and focus mostly on instrumentals, never remember lyrics Stern Smile thus never could I ever sing along with my girlfriends Unhappy to terrible boring songs anyway.
My favorite bands are King Crimson, Genesis (Gabriel era and Collins on drums), obviously Floyd but not interesting to mention coz everyone loves them to be honest, Focus oh yes Eruption is their ultimate fab track for me, I love Al DiMeola too!!  I like too many inc. a band from the 70's to date prog band called LOS JAIVAS (check this if you have the time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AO8pY09h_Y" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AO8pY09h_Y )  I think they are brilliant seriously.
I can go on for ages waffling till you fall asleep, AEProgman but will spare you :) xxx thank you again xxx

I must add Zappa, The Beatles (they might have invented both prog and metal actually, metal with Helter Skelter in my opinion, plus Mc Cartney (he seemed innocent but huh) is my fav he liked silly song titles just like Zappa lolol I like too many bands really infact I'd bore you all with my typing lolol

Oh wow yes ofcourse, Kotro!!! Hello first and thank you Big smile
How could I possibly have forgotten that one!!!! That album is most impressive, outstanding instrumentals really, especially the first track Aruco tiene una pena, overall the whole album is outstanding! Only let down on this one for me were some of the vocals which reminded me more of mariachi but wow, you made me want to listen to this album right now. Again, thank you!
Bytor this album is a great suggestion by Kotro Clap

Hi Moogtron III, Big smile

Thank you very much for the welcome.

I much prefer to read and observe to adding comments, plus many of you experts are very scary Ouch (hahahaha the latter was pun intended Tongue hehehe).

Ok joking aside, I do have a steadfast mindset when it comes to what I like and certainly not limited to the 70’s and current/well established bands, I am very open when it comes to listening to new bands and most impressionable too.

I think we all love surprises, that feeling and sense of listening to something so good, a feeling building up that comes from within thus not just staying pleasantly above your neck and moving on to the next thing.  aaahhhh.. Thumbs Up nothing can beat that euphoric feeling really and once this grabs me, I need to know more, want to take it all in.

Jester, interesting blog you have! To be honest I was kind of dreading going there as I had no idea what to expect and what a nice surprise, must go back to carry on reading other articles, also return from time to time. You have a good blog site, I read a very nice, honest and well informed review about The Hobbit, you covered all sides of the spectrum, both Peter Jackson fans and original book and story writer J.R. Tolkien fans.   Thumbs Up
Thank you for the suggestion Smile

Hello Sonia, glad to see you in the forum.

I saw you like DFA, maybe you might enjoy another band from Italy, Deus Ex Machina, vocals are quite original but an acquired taste and the music very dynamic and...well...progressive !

Another good recommandation if you are into jazz-rock is Arti E Mestieri, with the iunbelievably stunning Furio Chirico on drums. The track "gravita 9.81" is a classic one in their repertoire, and you will notice the traditional folk dance touch with the violin in the chorus.

Also, you mentioned that Los Jaivas is one of your beloved bands. I was surprised when a colleague at university (who has bolivian roots) told me he knew them (I really thought only progsters were acquainted with them) : in fact Los Jaivas are superstars in South America. I like both their folk stuff and their more progressive one. From Chile, you might also like the band Congreso :

This drawing I made for a DJ friend of mine Big smile just for fun, it's all 100% hand-drawn tho'.
Oh wow, Merry belated Christmas to you too, Zravkapt and a happy New Year too!!! Awww I missed you comment, my sincere apologies, really Unhappy grrrr... I am still getting used to post on this site Confused

Thank you so much for your compliment about my drawings on the Corvus Stone album Hug

Only recently I am trying to change my drawing/paintings from canvas and paper to software, however I must add that I do not use any professional art software i.e. Photoshop or Corel Draw (also I have no idea how to operate those Confused), all my drawings are drawn by hand using paint (not to be confused with paint.net program) which comes standard with microsoft office under accessories lol Smile yep I am a Neanderthal, I know Unhappy still figuring out how this all works.
I only recently opened up an account with photobucket, all my drawings are public, the CS album pics on there I tried to add full size on there so you can see the details too http://s1279.beta.photobucket.com/user/Kati_SoniaMota/library/?view=stories#/user/Kati_SoniaMota/library/?view=stories&&_suid=135719056446209456916250540759" rel="nofollow - http://s1279.beta.photobucket.com/user/Kati_SoniaMota/library/?view=stories#/user/Kati_SoniaMota/library/?view=stories&&_suid=135719056446209456916250540759  also I have made all my drawing public and large Wink if you want the originals I am most happy to send any of them to you via email (obviously without the stupid watermarks) again thank you very much and a huge HugBig smile

Only recently I am trying to change my drawing/paintings from canvas and paper to software, however I must add that I do not use any professional art software i.e. Photoshop or Corel Draw (also I have no idea how to operate those Confused), all my drawings are drawn by hand using paint (not to be confused with paint.net program) which comes standard with microsoft office under accessories lol Smile yep I am a Neanderthal, I know Unhappy still figuring out how this all works.

sorry i'm late to this thread, but i have to know, Sonia, is that you in your avatar picture?  just really curious because you might be the only female on this board.  your knowledge of prog is astounding.  you can definitely hold your own here.

anyway, i'm recently trying to get into Pain of Salvation.  wasn't too much of a fan of Daniel's until i saw a Transatlantic DVD with him.  he's great and the PoS is very progressive, in the truest sense of the word.  it's also a bit dark and harrowing to my ears and definitely not 'good time' music.  i hope to get a few more albums soon.  i only have the two road salt ones.

also, are you really in mozambique?

Peace

Hello Zumacraig,
Thank you very much!!!! Of course it's me on the avatar pics Smile however, I hope I am not the only female on this board tho' Unhappy

I can hold my own here coz I am not phased by anyone, I conquer anyone who is nice (or grumpy) with hugs Hug everyone needs hugs and I am a hugger Big smile

hihihi thank you for the compliment in terms of my prog knowleadge, I do have to disappoint you tho' a bit because I know I don't know much, I am eager and curious thus still keep discovering new bands or tracks that I have not heard before Wink I mention prog because it seems that I most inclined to it Tongue

You are sweet thank you for saying such nice things about me, thank you, Zumacraig Hug

In terms of Pain of Salvation, you'd be amazed how diverse they are plus Daniel Gildenlow has amazing vocals, 4 octaves and this is very rare. I'll post here 3 totally different songs and let's see if you like them ok? Smile this is one of my favorites :) [

Sonia,
thanks for the videos.  i haven't seen any live stuff by them.  so great!  i mean, you really can't describe them because one minute it's heavy metal and the next it's disco...and there's no irony in it at all.  now, the question is, do we prefer daniel's hair long or short?  :-)  i like it short :)

have you heard any of his stuff with the flower kings?  it's funny to me how he was even involved with them because they are basically the polar opposite of PoS.  btw, the flower kings thread on here is cool if your into flower kings.  it's kind of it's own forum over there.

also, are you really in Africa?

peace

Sorry I meant to answer your question, zumacraig,
Yes I live in Africa.
Not much happening here in terms of great moozik (namely prog), however the world of internet becomes small, I do tune into various prog stations, frequently, at times I even do a radio marathon lol especially during weekends, too many shows plus I seem to be the only idiot who uses her real name instead of an alias in the chatrooms Ermm
