LA THEORIE DES CORDES // french jazzrockprog band of 2010

Iniatially a duo, then a trio for 2 years, then a quintet and actually living & gigging in Toulouse (FR)

With distorted experimental high-as-kite guitar, electric jazzy insolent piano, fine technical and precise drums, smooth relevant & sexy sax and even a groovy contrabass sometimes...

They ride their scoobi-van around the festivals during summertime, like pirates and spread their semen over the pop jailbreaked ears... That sounds weird... and they are also distributed by MUSEA PARALLELE.

There are plenty of texts in the CD box (12 pages), be ready to spend the time of your lives and scientific occult & esoteric bedtime stories..

Here's the website w/ the sounds (album&live videos):

String Theory!
Just finished listening to the album.  Very, very nice!  I've no doubt you will be added.  Do you have a subgenre preference?  I'm kind of assuming Jazz Rock/Fusion, but its a lot more Rock than the typical JR/F, I think.

You might want to edit the title of this thread and place the band name in it.

Welcome to Progarchives elyougo, and the answer to your question is:- Should!! - Most definitely! The only thing I'm not too sure about is whether this belongs in JR/F or Eclectic Prog...but someone else will decide that minor matter. Embarrassed

Plenty of opportunites have been provided by you to listen to this wonderful music too, which is good:

Welcome aboard. Hug

Now checking their reverbnation ... yeah, as Frank and David say, amazing indeed! Big smile

Feel they can be just on the borderline between JR/F and Avant-Prog but sounds more of JR/F for me. Cool

(EDIT: Anyway, I've fixed your thread title, for everyone checking this section. Wink)

(EDIT 2: Oh now found you're one of members Stephanie. LOL)

Just noticed this suggestion...the band's studio album has been one of my favourite instrumental prog albums of the last year or two, so I'll likely put up a very positive review of it if they get added! I play their album constantly at work too, always a great listen.

Would love to see this wonderful band on here!

Thank youuu all very much!!

About the genre, well it's hard to say, as usual we don't exactly fit in square genres Ermm because the bands or isolated musicians that we compare us to most are either prog or jazz or jazz rock (PF, Magma, Soft Machine, Gong, E.S.T, Frank Zappa, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Bojan Z, John Zorn, Tigran) and we have multiple universes too soooo..
But equally prog listeners & jazz listeners like the stuff so...
But theoretically, jazz is prog by essence.. (i'm gonna create one debate here..) and jazz is mother of music, somehow.. (another disputation Big smile) only messin..
Our last set of drummer/bass couple left the band because they didn't understand the genre.. (too boxy ones..)

as Mike Patton once said "It's our sh*t.." hehe

Quote (EDIT 2: Oh now found you're one of members Stephanie. LOL)
mouahahah yeah i know.. i was drifting incognita Cool thanks for looking up though Wink

Cheers Keishiro and David, Stephanie may not be aware of this site's associated jazz site, but we added La Theorie ds Cordes to that site under Jazz Related Rock. They can still be added to this site too.
