Interesting, I thought he'd hung it up for good.  The single sounds pretty good -- nothing really surprising about it, given Bowie's penchant for frequently reinventing himself and trying to stay on the vanguard of modern music.  This one feels more reflective and settled than forward-looking.  But I guess his last album was kind of like that too, from what I remember.

That's very surprising, didn' thought he'd release any new album at all. Anyway, great news!

This is so exciting for me! I love David Bowie! The single reminds me, a little bit, of "Thursday's Child" off of the 'Hours...' album, but maybe a slight bit more melancholy.

I can't wait for March!!

Best musical news in a long, long time - although I don't believe it's going to be a cheerful album.

Wow, I thought his musical career was over for good. The song is a bit dull, similar to the stuff on Hours, just with better production. The video is brilliant though. I'm not expecting much from the album, but who knows? Maybe it's good.

The cover seems a tad... strange:

It's a win-win situation. Either it's a joke and the real cover will be revealed later, in which case it's hilarious, or it's the actual cover, in which case it's actually even more hilarious.

My gut tells me it's gonna be a disaster. The album and the single.

I like the single...a lot, actually. Can't wait for the album. I know in my heart of hearts that he won't tour, but I'm praying that a "selection of shows" a la Phil Collins will pop up. :p

The single was decent. I actually have this gut feeling that this is going to be one of those epic introspective and somber albums musicians always release when they're older.

The single wasn't very happy, was it?  About as cheerful as the movie "Brazil"! Disapprove

Still, I sense the brilliance.  I only wish Bob Fripp would collaborate with Bowie again!  They have many life experiences that they could share.

Best of wishes to David, and good health!

According to Tony Visconti, it's more of a "rock" album than the single would have believe. I'm quite relieved. Reality had some pretty awesome rock songs for a fiftysomething guy, so I'm hoping for some awesome rock songs by a sixtysomething guy now.

I think the single is good, too.

As for the cover art, there's no way that's the actual cover. But I think the square-over-the-face might be a theme, because that was on his website too...but over a different picture.

I'll say it again...I LOVE DAVID BOWIE!!

No surprise to anyone that I'm a Bowie fan; but one of things I admired about him was his ability to know when to get off the stage.

To be completely honest, I've never really gotten into Bowie. I'm not sure why though, every time a bowie song comes on the radio I really like it, but I've never bought a bowie album despite them always being on my list of albums to check out.
That being said, This single has really got me mesmerized, I would like this song no matter who was singing it, It's just a great song to me. Particularly that chord change that comes when he says "Walking the dead". Very subtle, yet so captivating.
I'll make a note to make this my first Bowie album, There is something different about listing to a contemporary album as apposed to the 30 or 40 year old albums that make up the majority of my collection, and It'll be interesting to start here.

Good song, if only all pop was like this...
I've been a big Bowie fan since his early days although I admit that I rarely listen to his latest albums, but a new album by him is always good news. Unlike other artists he has always maintained a very decent level of integrity and it seems that in his late years even more than in his middle period.

Nothing ever does. But, for me, I'm a David Bowie fan...I know how to gauge/judge material on my own. I don't care if the media touts this as "the greatest thing since whatever"...that won't matter to me or, I suspect, any other longtime Bowie fan.

The album is a bizarre oddity
but this has me really intrigued!. I would love to hear this when I get a chance, and it definitely has one of the strangest album covers ever. Its as if someone grabbed "Heroes" and defaced it, like Andy Warhol, a fan of his at one stage. I like Bowie especially songs liked cracked actor, Jean Jeannie, Heroes, Ziggy Stardust, Starman, and Space Oddity, also adore his Low era and definitely "Scary Monsters" namely Ashes to Ashes and title track. The film Man who fell to earth still fascinates me as a cult classic and I would watch it next time it is screened on air.  I even liked Bowies acting on Cat People and definitely Labyrinth!!!!

At first I feared that Bowie had mellowed out, what with that first single and all, but gladly that's not the case at all. He sounds like not a year has gone by since his last album.

I've already taken a liking to many songs on the album, such as "Dirty Boys", "Love is Lost", "Valentine's Day", "Boss of Me", "Dancing Out in Space", "You Will Set the World on Fire" and "Heat", and I'm sure the rest will follow. If Heathen and Reality (which were good albums in their own right) saw him regaining his style, this one saw him regaining the remainder of his substance. Maybe the ten-year break was good for him. What irritates me though it that many of the critics who were rather lukewarm or even negative towards his last few albums are now heaping him with praise. Is it all about the timing and the presentation with these people?
