Sounds more like progressive funk rock with a few psych flourishes rather than prog rock to me. Will ask the guys in Crossover for their opinion.

"In November 2008, Yves Krismer (guitar, vocals), Benedict Trenkwalder (bass) and Jan Haussels (drums) first met spontaneously in Arzl to jam together. This eventually led to the band Mother's Cake. Their music is influenced by different bands like The Mars Volta, Porcupine Tree, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bootsy Collins. The result is a mixture of funk, hard rock and progressive, psychedelic parts.

It initially followed numerous minor roles in the Tiroler Oberland and the provincial capital of Innsbruck. In the summer of 2009, Mother's Cake finally competed for her first big band contest with approximately 1,000 participating bands - the International Live Award feat. Austrian Band Contest 2010. Both preliminary rounds of Tyrol and Vorarlberg, the band decide for itself as the clear winner jury. In the finals, they had to win, despite the jury with the 3rd
Place to settle.

In early 2010, they launched the Local Heroes Austria 2010 band contest. Here, too, they could decide the first round, second round and the West finals respectively as Jury winner for yourself. On May 29, 2010, they were finally able to determine the final at the Arena Wien in itself.
They were not only awarded as the best band, but each member, regardless of the best singer, best bassist and best drummer of the contest.

On 18 August 2010, they were seen as part of an hour on GoTV of 'hosted by Mother's Cake'.
In addition to 11 other songs like her music video for 'Realitricked Me' for the first time presented to the public.

In November 2010, they will take part in the first European final of Local Heroes Band Contest in Pécs, Hungary.
There they meet the Local Heroes winners from Germany, Hungary and Italy, and on numerous other competitions, the finalists from all over Europe.

This was followed by appearances in major venues in Vienna (Arena Wien, Gasometer, Vienna Arena) on the main stages and reports in several local newspapers and XPress"
