This is a project by Dan Hodgson, of Prudhoe, Northumberland, UK, which revels in the glories of instumental soundscapes which are both melodic and lyrical...Soaring melodies, imaginative soundscapes and driving rhythms set in the epic vision of long, structured compositions and conceptual albums. http://www.facebook.com/Purpleproject" rel="nofollow - http://www.facebook.com/Purpleproject
Three albums for streaming (via last.fm links, or directly via a bandcamp widget with the latest album) at the purplemusic homepage: http://www.purplemusic.org/" rel="nofollow - http://www.purplemusic.org/  with more links on the site to full info about each album, and free legal download links via mediafire (note: with last.fm via this route you need to click on each individual track to get the full stream, or you could simply go direct to Dan's official page on last.fm:

This is a transfer from the Unsigned Bands forum, where more information can be found in this thread (from around this time last year): http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=84689" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=84689

This is good stuff - often compared to Mike Oldfield, and Dan freely admits that he deliberately set out to follow the same ethos of long but varied instrumental tracks.

Have a listen! Tongue

Thanks David! Seems a fairly obvious candidate for Crossover - I suppose the one issue being that the music only appears to be available as a free download. I imagine this will be covered by the free release policy:

... in which case it will require all team members to agree on the production quality and to get Admin clearance.

When assessing production quality, I would put in a special plea that you maybe consider the last album first (the last album is Body:Mind:Spirit) - on the grounds that I have learned by doing Wink

^ Hopefully all hurdles will be cleared. Added to chart anyway, and we'll see how it goes: http://progfreak.com/Purple-155676.html?path=pa/recent" rel="nofollow - http://progfreak.com/Purple-155676.html?path=pa/recent . Smile

^^ Hello there Dan! Personally speaking, I am perfectly happy with the production quality but I'm not on the Crossover Team so I don't have a say in the matter. But just to reinforce what David has said above, all hurdles will hopefully be overcome and you'll be added to the PA database if approved. Thumbs Up

^ Shouldn't be necessary for you to do anything, Dan...We already have good quality samples of all your albums available via your website. The free release policy link given by Chris (seventhsojourn) earlier in the thread explains the situation regarding the fact that you are giving your music away on a non-commercial basis. I can't personally see there being a problem in getting you added to the site, unless any team members deem your music to be 'not sufficiently prog', that is - I'm certainly gonna vote 'yes' anyway! Thumbs Up

OK cool, thanks for that and thanks for your enthusiastic support Thumbs Up

I think ProgArchives is brilliant, with information hard to find elsewhere, and consistently accurate. I'm quite excited at the possibility of being included.
