Oh Lord, I love The Power to Believe by King Crimson!!

I just sort of re-discovered it. Does anyone have any fun stories about this album, or observations about it?

I think it would be awesome to be a teenager again and make out to "level 5" whilst under the influence of something.

lol

anyway....brilliant stuff.

If it turns out to be King Crimson's last, they finished it all off well. Approve

@Nick Dilley, You wish you were a teenager making out with another teenager to The Power to Believe? Have you had a disappointing life or something, my friend?

Amazing album indeed !  To these ears, it easily ranks in my top 5 KC albums.
Sorry though, no salacious tales to tell in relation to it ! Embarrassed

I'm with you. It's one of my favorite King Crimson albums. There's just something special about it. But then again, there's something special with every King Crimson album. Oh well, I'm just a fanboy.

Ha ha, no, not at allEmbarrassed. I don't know why, but when level five came on, I was wondering what kind of whacky make out session it would be with that soundtrack. haha. Anyway, I was already out of my teens when this album came out. just some creative thinking, lol.

Easily my favourite Belew album. I discovered the post-90's KC quite recently and was very pleasantly surprised by both this one and The ConstruKction of Light, although Power to Believe has more coherence.

Big fan of this one. The instrumentals on it are among their best tracks in my book. My favorite is Elektrik. Think I'm gonna go listen to it now! Smile

Love this album too, beginning with Level 5. Indeed, my favourite album since the 70's, and like it better than some 70's albums too.

Terrific album, a fitting end to Crimson. I didn't get the chance to see them before 2000 but I saw them three times across the Construkction & TPTB tours. Wonderful wonderful memories, I was absolutely transfixed see one of my favorite bands and hearing tracks like Red, LTiA and the like live.

No there isn't. If you are referring to Fripp-Collins-Jacko it's not a KC album it's a Projekct.

After not buying a Crimson album in 15+ years I got TCoL a few months ago.  Will have to get TPTB the next time I see it.

You can name it however you want, but it still isn't a proper King Crimson album.

I can't formulate what I don't like about this album, but there is "something wrong". The tone? The dynamics? The vocals? I don't know .. just a three-star album for me, unfortunately.

I just got this album and listened about a week ago and absolutely love it. It motivated me to get the rest of the King Crimson discography that I had yet to acquire, and a Scarcity of Miracles, and those motivated me to get as much of Adrian Belew's solo material as I could acquire.

What a great album. On first listen I prefer this to most other KC I've heard.  Slightly amuses me that they have a drummer that sounds identical to Bruford ( I confess I didn't even realise it wasn't Bruford until I checked after). This will get a lot of spins over the next week or so.

All opinions are welcome and respected but anyone in this forum making such a statement should elaborate, as it is a very respected album (personally I love it, OK my opinion amounts to nothing but all the appreciation it gets should amount to something).

In order to re-qualify myself for the argument, I have played The Power of Believe Today and must say, it's not bad at all, but doesn't add too much to the KC glory either .. and Belew on the intro track is terribly irritating. So, I'd say 3 stars.
