DO NOT PANIC!

HAWKWIND ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES FOR OCTOBER 2013

World renowned space rock pioneers HAWKWIND have announced the dates for their first North American tour in nearly 20 years. At the helm of the group is leader and founding member Dave Brock, alongside long serving members Dead Fred, Tim Blake, Richard Chadwick, Mr Dibs and Niall Hone. This is Hawkwind’s longest standing, most stable line up in the band’s history.

The tour commemorates the anniversary and re-release of the band's landmark 1975 album, "Warrior on the Edge of Time". Hawkwind will perform the album in it's entirety along with classic tracks selected from their 40+ year history.

The tour will include a full light show, cosmic space dancers and psychedelic projections and is sure to be a far out experience.

Joining the group as support on all dates is the Boston based psychedelic/progressive rock group PERHAPS.

Tickets go on sale June 22nd.

I called the Mod Club in TO Canada and they didn't know who I was talking about. So I guess it's just the USA.

Have also secured Boston tickets...

Great to know Perhaps is playing and were responsible for helping bring Hawkwind to the states for the first time in decades

What about the two Canadian dates. I actually called both venues and not only are they not scheduled but both places didn't even know who Hawkwinf were ! Confused Oh well not the greatest Hawkwind lineup. I would have prefered to see them with Alan Davey on bass.

It's mentioned in NOW magazine also.
Show isn't until October.Give it  a few hours or a couple of days,
and I'm sure things are gonna work out.
They have been here several times,so why not play here again,
as they are in North America all ready.
Patience..........Wink

Hi,

Can't blame Nik for only doing the big cities and making sure he can come away with a couple of dollars off the tour ... a lot of these bands, like Nik's suffer in small towns and areas where they do not have the larger pull of population. And of course, Porltand, Vancouver, Seattle and Vancouver, is too far away travel wise for them to make it this far.

And dang it ... I was in the mood to get my ears roto-rooted again!

In case you missed the bad news posted earlier this week on www.hawkwind.com and on their Facebook page:

05.10.13 - USA tour postponement, please read

As many of you will now be aware Dave was taken ill a couple of weeks ago. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is stress related, aggravated by the trademark dispute in the United States which could result in years of litigation.

After enduring a series of tests, Dave has been advised that it could be dangerous to his health to embark on a gruelling 14,000 mile tour at this time. After much discussion about possible ways forward, the members of the band have reluctantly decided that it is necessary to reschedule the dates to March 2014, rather than put Dave's health at unnecessary risk. (New dates for each venue will be announced next week)

Whilst we understand this will come as a big disappointment to those of you who have booked tickets, as it does to ourselves, we are equally sure that you will understand health concerns must take priority.

Email i got from ticketmaster indicated no Perhaps at the makeup date, which is a shame since the word I had from them was that they were instrumental in getting Hawkwind over to begin with. Hope those guys will comment here

I found out info from a reliable source a
friend who works at the US Embassy, that one of the
members of Hawkwind ( Dave Brock ) US work visa was denied. I noticed from various websites ( http://goo.gl/7J3Fs" rel="nofollow - http://goo.gl/7J3Fs ) that their is speculation that is the reason that he canceled the tour. Which now seems to be confirmed. PEOPLE DO THE MATH! Why are the UK dates not canceled? Fans, people & reporters need to look up the real story? The truth will soon be revealed.

In reporting the new date of the Denver show today the Denver Post referred to them as "Longtime British art-metal band Hawkwind".  LOL

That was his first post EVER...hmm.  Tells me something right there.  But I'm objective, so I tried to "look up the real story," but the "various websites" link just directs you to the Wikipedia page for Hawkwind.

Sorry, I'm not biting at this point.  I guess I'll have to wait for the truth to be revealed.

Argh!  Ticketmaster.com shows the Boston date has been cancelled, and there is no mention of any US tour dates on www.hawkwind.com.

I guess the entire tour of the US & Canada has been cancelled?

Would have loved to have seen that WoTEoT tour...  Oh well, I did enjoy the Nik Turner show last fall.

More Hawkwind/Turner hijinks?

Earlier this week, I saw that a list of US tour dates for the fall of 2014 were posted on Nik Turner's Facebook page.  The next day they were gone.  I didn't copy them all down, but I remember that it had Nik & Hedersleben playing the Middle East club in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Sept 12 (same venue where I saw him last October).  No mention of Nik on the Middle East web site - they show some other act playing on that day.

I'm not taking sides in the Hawkwind/Nik battle, but I hope that these dates are real.  Loved hearing classics like "Orgone Accumulator" live last fall.
