YUP are a Finnish band who started in 1987 and went on a hiatus in 2009. Their different albums are quite varying in style but there are some which I think would really deserve to be listed here in PA.

I'm talking especially about 1994's "Homo Sapiens" and 2005's "Keppijumppaa". You can find them both on Spotify. The sound of these albums is sort of like GG and FZ -esque unusual composition and humour combined with the loud guitars and high energy of punk rock.

Could this be worth considering? (Definitely if you ask me Big smile)

Possibly, but I don't know where I'd put them. Some of the early stuff might even fit in avant-prog.

According to http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=20527&KW=yup" rel="nofollow - this they were awaiting addition in 2006. I'll need to do some checking...

Don't have access to Spotify but I've listened to around 20 random youtubes of the band... not really hearing much prog rock so far.

Just found this on Grooveshark:

... so will focus on the two albums you mentioned in the OP. Haven't come across anything about them in the Collab Zone btw, so I guess they might have been lost in the early days of the site (I see you posted in that original thread, Vomps).

In general they're more prog-influenced than prog as such, but Keppijumppaa has a quite a proggy feel to it throughout. I'd say the early stuff (Huuda harkiten, Turpasauna, Julmasti juhlallista) is probably their most unconventional.

The compilation 1990-1992 seems to be on Grooveshark, listen to that one.

Listened to Homo Sapien and much of Keppijumppaa. Not really hearing anything to change my opinion that most of this is quirky alt-rock / punk.
