Hi all,
I am very new to this site, just discovered it a few days ago.
I guess I'm semi-new to prog, having been a Floydian for 10+ years but never really realized they were prog (I tended to just think of music like Dream Theater as being prog). I used to more or less only listen to metal and Gothic rock, but I've been exploring the prog scene with renewed intensity since I got the Tull 5-album set last Christmas.
I was born in '87 so I guess I kind of missed out on the good stuff, so to speak... but thanks to the magic of the Internet I am now discovering old prog masters such as Gentle Giant and Eloy. Speaking of which, I tend to prefer 70's prog to the newer stuff. Don't ask me why, I just do. Perhaps it's because my Dad's nostalgia has rubbed off on me...

Oh, by the way: my username is from the tabletop game/fictitious universe... thing, Warhammer 40 000. Tzeentch is the god of change and unpredictability, which seemed fitting on a prog forum.

That's all from me (for today). Cheers!

Welcome.......I also enjoy the 70's prog the most and modern bands that sound like them.....but there's also plenty of other great prog  too and the members here are very well informed so ask away.

Thanks! Cool song, a shame the band aren't playing together anymore. I'll try to get a hold of that album, though.

Glad you liked the song. I chose this band because they started out as a gothic metal/rock band that gradually expanded their repertoire over the years. Tossing in a tune from one of their earlier albums as well ;-)

Windhawk: Another good one. The beginning reminds me of Faith and the Muse, which is a great band in my opinion. Frankly, many underground gothic rock/metal bands have stayed underground for a reason, but this is great stuff. Underrated as heck, apparently.

Earthmover: Porcupine Tree (heard them play live some years ago), Dream Theater, Opeth, lots of other bands whose names I can't remember. Most of them are actually very good, they just don't quite do it for me. It's something purely subjective that I can't put into words.
