three bands which both share similaritys and differnces, Alice in Chains and Guns n Roses both have that dirty sound, yet glam rock influenced, but also grungy elements, the drummer of Guns, is from Seattle and was heavly in the scene in mid 80s before GnR started up, but stil GnR retained the dirty elements of seattle grunge, yet merged with glam/or hair metal, Alice in Chains is the other way around, glam metal band with the murky transition to sludgy grunge, (partly influenced by Soundgarden), and Queensrëche well is progmetal pinoeers but on the album Empire have more grungy stuff and music which is not far apart from GnR or AiC.
but if you don't see what i see then thats also fine okey, Smile

QR if we go by the bands' high points, AIC if we go by the average quality of their discography.

Alice in Chains, easily.

Queensryche, by far, even after eliminating all the crap albums issued after Promised Land.

AiC has some interesting tunes but IMO their sound is a bit too consistent. That might work for bands like Sabbath and Ozric Tentacles, but not AiC.

GnR is a joke!

I actually just put on Appetite for Destruction, before I saw this thread.

GnR was one of the first bands I was a fan of, so this is an easy choice for me.

Queensrÿche I guess, but not really a fan of any.

I like a couple of songs from each band.  I guess I've never heard anything I actively dislike from Queensryche, whereas I've heard plenty I dislike from the other two bands.  So I'll vote for Queenie.

I am a fan of all three and have the complete discographies of each of them.  GNR are the only one of these 3 that I have seen live.  I think that my vote goes to Queensryche though.

Don't care much for Queensrÿche, but Guns and Alice I do love. Appetite is probably one of my top 10 albums of all time, and Dirt is fantastic as well. Both have their lesser albums too, I'm not a big fan of for example Facelift and Use Your Illusion I. Let's give it to Alive because they're still relevant. I do enjoy Chinese Democracy, but as far as all comeback albums go, Black Gives Way to Blue might be the best one and the new one ain't bad either.

G & R or AIC would dream about about having the ability to write or perform "Operation Mindcrime". The first 5 or so Ryche albums leave anything by the other two way behind. Something went wrong after "Empires" and aside from "Operation Mindcrime 2" which was not too bad the band made a hash of things.

Maybe we need a "who's the bigger scumbag, Axl Rose or Geoff Tate" poll.

There's no grungy stuff on Empire, closest QR got to grunge was on Hear in the Now Frontier.
Voted for Queensryche.

QR>AiC>GnR Big smile

Queensryche holds a special place in my heart for their output through Mindcrime.

Alice In Chains is a favorite "modern" band for me. I love a lot of their stuff.

I was a fairly big GnR fan when they first showed up but got tired of them really fast. I found bands like AiC, Soundgarden, and Nirvana to be far more interesting.

Alice in Chains for the win slightly over Queensryche

Right they also share differences - maybe just like Kraftwerk, Peter Brötzmann and The Carpenters?

- Alice in Chains for me.

Queensryche for Mindcrime, Empire (nothing grungy there, this was just before Cobain recycled the Boston riff, er, I mean recorded Smells Like a Spinal Tap title). And Promised Land.

I'll ask this here since i don't want to start a new thread for one question.

I noticed that QUEENSRYCHE's Operation: Mindcrime suddenly jumped from lik 112 on the Top 250 charts all the way up to 85 virtually overnight.

Does anyone have a clue how this could possibly happen?

As far as this poll goes:

I love ALL Alice In Chains, especially Dirt.
I love Queensryche but only up to Promised Land.
I only love Guns N Roses' debut Appetite For Destruction with a few tracks on other albums.

Best album of them all: Operation: Mindcrime.
