Hi, a long time ago I saw the Caress Of Steel album cover for about the third time and noticed a sort of face like Queen Victoria on the left of the necromancer on the cover. Just wanted to know is this just a coincidence or is it intentional. In the unlikely case it is, what's the meaning of it? I heard something about the Indian Head Penny's similarities but I doubt it's true  Here is a picture in case you don't know what it looks like: |

Just taken out my LP of CoS and I'm not seeing it.....there's more likely to be a face on the dead tree on the back cover picture

Can't see it myself, although if I tilt the album sleeve 45 degrees to the left I can see the suggestion of an evil grinning face with dark eyes and a cigar in mouth....  ------------- Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy! |

I see 4 or 5 faces in the foggy surroundings actually and no I am currently not on any mind altering substances.

I haven't taken anything but a beans soup and I see that face. Actually there is a vague face-like figure just above the man's head, although it's not clear what you're actually seeing, but I reckon it's just coincidence.

Naah, I'm atheist. The face I see is 3D seen from above and watching down. Her right border is at the level of the sorcerer's shoulder and the left at his hand. I don't know if it's a queen and it's surely a conicidence, but it's there. The cover is by Hugh Syme, and he if he wanted you to see faces in the cover they would have been done a hell of a lot better. (Same for the Indian Head penny)

I don't 'see' any intentional faces there but again pareidolia can cause that to happen.
A link to Syme on wiki who did the art work and to his home page. I could not find any interviews or info on these pages that mentioned this piece of art..

Here's a link to a web site that has a much larger version of the art work...scroll down..........
to the direct left of the center figure one can 'see' a face in the 'clouds' or whatever that is but again is it intentional or just an artifact of the art work? Only My Syme knows for sure.
