First of all, I've searched for a thread for this album, and I can't seem to find one, so I'm starting this one. Apologies if it's already been discussed, but I really want to say a few things about it. I bought this album "blind", ie. I didn't hear any of the music before I picked up the CD, and I didn't specifically intend to get this album when I did get it. But boy, what an album I did get! Just fantastic progressive rock! One of the main things I got is how "full" it is. 12 tracks on it, and quite a few of those are in the high 5-mins and over 6 mins. And then, after all that, there's still room for a big four-part, 19-minute epic at the end. It's about as solid and confident a debut album as you can get, and I for one certainly hope it's not the last we hear of Sound of Contact.

| Yep its a good one. Its nice to hear Simon Collins sounding so much like his Dad at times. A bit of Duke era vibe going on to my ears. Overall its pleasant and enjoyable and very melodic but won' be 'hard' enough to please the modern prog fan. I would however class it as neo not crossover. 4 star album and will be on my top ten list for the year. |

I should point out that I meant Phil Collins drumming style not the singing side which I guess Simon doesn't do.

I need to spend more time with this cd, but I have enjoyed it the few times I've played it. Its quite fun to hear Simon's dad's influence on the drums. Very Duke's Travels-ish.
