I've heard mixed things about the band in question, as in they succeed in actually sounding like they're from the 1970s but probably wouldn't be remembered today if they had been around back then. (my litmus test for "retro" music groups)

I have corrected the garbled grammar of the thread title and turned down the volume to something considerably less SHOUTY!

Can't do much about the itinerant apostrophe in OP though (unless of course the Bigelf fan really is out there).

I've not heard much but I did see them supporting Dream Theater once in London and they were very good indeed. I need to investigate them further. I remember powerful Hammond organs! Always a good start

I first saw Bigelf at ProgFest '97 in Los Angeles! They were a replacement for Ritual, who cancelled because the singer favored another commitment with his more commercial rock band called Blonde.

Bigelf were raw, edgy, not-loud-enough and refreshingly uncompromising. They got better with each album and I feel Hex is probably their best. Cheat The Gallows continued the tradition in solid Bigelf fashion, but I don't think it's as good as Hex.

Bigelf is a great band if you enjoy Atomic Rooster and Deep Purple.

That was how I first heard them described as a Beatles / Sabbath mix which I found hard to believe until I heard them and have to agree. I'm not really into any of their albums but I saw them live and they put on a great show.
