| Tough decision, but I went with Starless and Bible Black because overall I think it's a better album than Power and the Glory. I actually think Starless gets underrated a bit among Crimson albums. People jump up and down about Red but I think Starless and Bible Black is the more creative and interesting album. |

The Power And The Glory is my favourite GG album, and SABB is probably my least favourite 70's KC album, but still pretty close. Gentle Giant for me

You are entitled to your opinion, however misguided it may be. In my personal opinion, I think all GG's albums are, if anything UNDERrated (and that from someone who really didn't like them from the 70s to about 2000, than they just "clicked"). I don't like KC much, but others do - so they're not overrated, are they?

KC Starless for me......I like The Power and The Glory but all of the Wetton period KC is simply awesome and Great Deceiver and Nightwatch are superb. ------------- One does nothing yet nothing is left undone. Haquin |

This one from KC has been the record which has been sitting on the backburner for the longest, but recently I have started to realise just how brilliant Bible Black really is. The highs on that sucker tower just about anything other than maybe the lizard suite, most of Larks tongues, Islands title track and of course Starless:-) GG's TPATG is not my kind of bag...not yet at least. Any band who is hyped to the hills is considered overrated, but our own subjectivity gets in the way here and is what separates each of us. I wouldn't say my opinion is misguided at all. What yardstick are you using to measure whose opinion is 'misguided' or not? Who's to say that your opinion isn't the one that's actually misguided? You may not agree with my opinion but it doesn't mean this opinion is without merit. I have plenty of reasons as to why I think GG is overrated, but who really cares? You like them, I don't, so let's move along.

The point is not whether you think they're overrated or I think they are underrated; the consensus on here from a large number of people is that they are a highly respected, highly rated band with 5 albums in the top 100 on here. Oh, and they're winning this poll, too.

I'm not too sure. On the one hand, I find The Power And The Glory to be a more consistent record; on the other hand, Starless And Bible Black has better high points. As good as The Power... is, even the best songs on there can't touch "Fracture". ------------- He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball! |
