Fairport Convention's annual Cropredy Festival (Banbury, UK) has a decidedly progressive rock feel to it this year.

There have been occasional prog bands in the past (Mostly Autumn, Rick wakeman, Strawbs) but this year, in addition to the usual fare of straight folk, folk rock & various old bands, the following have been announced:

Thursday 7th August - Steve Hackett (Genesis Extended)

Friday 8th August - The Australian Pink Floyd (headliners)

Saturday 9th August - Marillion

I've been going for the last 22 consecutive years & can vouch for the fact this is the friendliest & most fun 3 day festival I've ever attended - this year, however, I can't get the vacation time for the Thursday & Friday so cannot go the full 3 days!

I shall however be getting there as quick as I can after work on the Friday, so may get to see the Aussie Pink Floyd; no way I'll get to see Hackett on the Thursday though... and The Waterboys are playing that day!

Aaaaanyway - if anyone's interested in going, I'd thoroughly recommend the weekend - here's the link:

I've often considered going to this, but its the same days as the Cambridge Rock Festival, which I always go to. Maybe next year??
