Miroist is a 29-year old guitarist from London. He started making music under the Miroist name in late 2011. In April 2012, he released a 3-track EP and bonus track, entitled The Peldge and the response has been overwhelming. In March 2014, Miroist released his full-lenght debut album entitled Curve - a record written, recorded and produced entirely by himself. Miroist is matching the intense grooves of djent and progressive metal with the deep ambient washes of post-rock, post-metal and electronica. Influences are Cloudkicker, Vildhjarta, Meshuggah, Uneven Structure / Godspeed You! Black Emperor, The Twilight Sad, Mogwai / Glassjaw / Boards of Canada, Autechre, Aphex Twin.

He didn't make a bad job of it though at all...I really enjoyed this album. Smile Seems to be well worth an evaluation to me, even if it is a name-your-price download on the dreaded (by some) bandcamp! LOL

In a part of the interview for which I posted the link, a limited serie of 100 vinyl LPs of Curve is mentioned:

Quote Your campaign was for merch only, and for 100 each of vinyls and T-shirts. I’m glad of the vinyl resurgence personally as it’s a more organic tactile experience as a whole, but it’s a brave move for a debut album to not print CD’s at all..what were your reasons?

I just don’t think CDs provide an interesting way to enjoy music. Small artwork, not especially portable, it’s just a uninteresting format to me. Find better ways to get art to people! I think you’re absolutely right about vinyl, it’s a niche purchase but all physical purchases are niche these days, and I think vinyl is the best of the physical formats. Huge space for artwork, you can feel the grooves in the vinyl, it weighs something in your hands… I think they’re a great trophy to have of an album you like.
