From their record label, Profound Lore's site:

I'm liking the sound of it from the one track available for preview. In some way, it kind of reminds me of their debut

I'll be buying as soon as I can.

And, probably not surprisingly, the sample track reminds me of MOTS the most.

Yeah but it's actually pretty good. I mean Marrow's not really bad, but I think The Watcher's Monolith was the preview track from MOTS and this is better than that. So I am always hopeful. Plus the drumming and production is better on this. I think Agalloch got all caught up with the "analog" buzzword and forgot that hey, mixing and timing actually does matter too and just because you don't run it through ProTools doesn't mean you make a better record.

Marrow is my least favorite Agalloch record, but I would still rate it very high (4/5).

Good point about the sound. It does sound cleaner/clearer.

Absolutely can't wait for this album, one of my most anticipated of the year.

I actually really love Marrow of the Spirit more than anything they've done besides the mantle. Ashes Against the Grain was my least favorite. I do hope they go back to incorporating more of the folky elements that were largely absent on MOTS  though
