Due to be released on 9th June via Kscope, distant satellites is the highly anticipated follow up to 2012’s http://www.kscopemusic.com/anathema/weathersystems/album-info.php" rel="nofollow - Weather Systems , recorded at Cederberg Studios in Oslo, with producer Christer-André Cederberg.

The beautifully ethereal artwork was created by Korean new media artist Sang Jun Too and based around his ‘Distant Light’ Installation

The band released a statement on their new album:
“distant satellites is the culmination of everything Anathema been working up to so far in our musical path. It contains almost every conceivable element of the heartbeat of Anathema music that it is possible to have.

There is beauty, intensity, drama, quietude, and extra musical dimensions that the band have previously only hinted at. All built on the song writing chemistry of Daniel, John and Vincent ~ and the haunting voice of Lee Douglas.

Just wondering where guys have you found any clone on their last five albums. Especially since they contain the most dramatic changes in Anathema sound since 1996 LOL

This is a band I avoided for years and finally broke down with Weather Systems and was blown away. Got WHBWH and love that as well. Then got the three previous albums and they just have not clicked but have not given them a lot of time. Have a feeling I am a more in tune with the newer stuff over older but if you are the other way, that's great too. Just very excited for the new one. Peace

I just can't get into Anathema. I bought, and listened to, Weather Systems and it did absolutely nothing for me. I mean I like progressive rock that actually contains instrumental sections and not every inch of space being taken up by the vocals. In this regard, they remind me of Marillion, but Anathema are much less musically interesting than Marillion or IQ for that matter.

And its now on my CD player. I'm not sure I like it as much as Weather Systems which was absolutely breathtaking to me when I first heard it. Whats very obvious though is that it follows the same approach as the last couple of albums and the production is as good as it gets. I like the t-shirt and will see if I can get a picture of me wearing it put up at some point.
