Yeah -  http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=6343" rel="nofollow - Heather has finally confirmed, after a few hints recently from various sources, that she has teamed up with former  http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=8138" rel="nofollow - Sound Of Contact keyboard player Dave Kerzner to form a new band, Mantra Vega. The duo are currently working on their debut record, which they aim to release in the autumn. The project also involves Chris Johnson (Halo Blind), Stu Fletcher (We Could Be Astronauts), Alex Cromarty (Mostly Autumn) and features legendary guitarist David Kilminster (Roger Waters).

From https://www.facebook.com/MantraVega" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/MantraVega :

"Mantra Vega is a new transatlantic progressive rock band from Heather Findlay and Dave Kerzner (former founding members of the bands Mostly Autumn and Sound of Contact respectively) along with Chris Johnson (Halo Blind), Stu Fletcher (We Could Be Astronauts), Alex Cromarty (Mostly Autumn) and featuring legendary guitarist David Kilminster (Roger Waters).

Melding together their wide range of styles and influences in Progressive, Classic and Alternative Rock, Mantra Vega offers a fresh blend of female and male lead vocals and harmonies, atmospheric soundscapes, emotional dynamics and powerful moods. From Heather Findlay's wide range from angelic to powerful voice to the lush keys, guitars and sound design of Dave Kerzner and Chris Johnson to soaring guitar leads from Dave Kilminster and soulful groove from the Cromarty/Fletcher rhythm section , there's something fresh and new for fans of artists like Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, Yes, The Beatles, Sigur Ros and more."

Background info:

"Heather Findlay, lead vocalistic and songwriter of Mantra Vega, spent 13 years singing, writing and playing guitar and percussion with the band "Mostly Autumn" which she co-fronted with Bryan Josh since the band's first album in 1997. In 2010, 8 studio albums later, Heather split from the band and launched her solo career with the powerful "Phoenix Suite" and rootsy "Songs from the Old Kitchen". While continuing pursuing her solo efforts with album plans with producer Troy Donockley of Nightwish scheduled for late 2016, Heather who is no stranger to collaboration within a progressive rock ensemble, co-founded the new band Mantra Vega with award-winning producer/songwriter Dave Kerzner.

Dave Kerzner, lead vocalist, songwriter, producer and keyboardist of Mantra Vega has worked with a variety of artists such as Kevin Gilbert, Steve Hackett, Keith Emerson, Alan Parsons, Genesis, Steven Wilson and more. He is most known for co-founding the band "Sound of Contact" and co-producing/writing the award-winning Prog Rock concept album "Dimensionaut".

Dave Kilminster, a featured guitarist with Mantra Vega has played lead guitar for Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) for 8 years including the immensely successful "Wall Tour". He has also played with artists like Keith Emerson, John Wetton and more.

Chris Johnson is a founding member of the edgy altrock band "Halo Blind" and has always been part of the Heather Findlay Band playing guitar, keys and singing as he did with Mostly Autumn during his time as band member with them also.

Stu Fletcher is a popular session bass player in the UK and internationally, performing and collaborating with many artists ranging from "We Could Be Astronauts", "Halo Blind" to Gary Lucas (of Captain Beefheart), "Seahorses" as well as the Heather Findlay Band.

Alex Cromarty is the current drummer for Heather's former band "Mostly Autumn", and is also part of the Heather Findlay Band.

Combining forces between Heather and Chris's network of musicians in York, England, stellar guitar work from world renown musician Dave Kilminster and powerful production and co-writing of Dave Kerzner from Miami, Florida, this transatlantic combo is rich with inspiring new music to share with the world. Mantra Vega has a forthcoming debut album release and touring plans toward the end of 2014."

Vocalist Findlay says: “I’d planned to do my next solo album this year with Troy Donockley producing – but his schedule changed and he’ll be busy with Nightwish until the end of 2016. Then out of the blue, this guy with a familiar name turns up and says ‘Hi! I’ve been checking out your stuff!’ It was Dave. He asked me what I’d been up to and it all started from there.

"The way Dave writes is quite broad, so I can be singing really delicate Kate Bush-y stuff one minute and then right up to the Robert Plant end of things, really rocking out. It’s a really exciting challenge.”

Kerzner says: “I like prog and classic rock music with a female vocal because it gives it other qualities that you don’t get with a male lead singer. The idea came from Heather herself, mainly, just hearing her voice and seeing the possibilities.

"It’s a pretty broad record. It goes from a Floyd vibe to a more Led Zeppelin-style thing, then maybe something more light and ethereal and trippy, and then more proggy, like Yes or Genesis. Overall it’s more prog than anything Heather’s done before.

"I’m all about giving people a listening experience, an album experience. I want people to put on headphones and drift off.”

Although Dave and Heather are Mantra Vega’s creative core, the record will also feature the talents of Chris Johnson, Alex Cromarty and Stuart Fletcher, as well as guitarist Dave Kilminster from the Heather Findlay Band.

Meanwhile, plans are underway to turn the band's first live shows into a celebration of the leading duo's respective catalogues. “We had this idea to put on this really cool evening of music,” Kerzner enthuses. “Heather has her back catalogue with Mostly Autumn and her solo stuff; I’ve got my solo album coming up, and we’ve got our album, so it’ll be two and a half hours of music – with maybe some Pink Floyd and some stuff from my tribute records.”

Findlay says: “It’s all really exciting – it’s all happened really fast, but we’ve just clicked, and we can’t wait for people to hear what we’ve been doing.”

Dave Kilminster is a great guitarist. I've seen him performing live with Keith Emerson and The Nice as well as Roger Waters. He and Kerzner gives this project some serious clout.
