i'm looking for a certain type of vocal - vocals that sound like this

i love the whole gated reverb - slight delay effects on vocals

any help very much appreciated - hidden gems a must - not full albums just songs please

oh and no later than 1984 if possible - unless it's exactly the kind i am looking for like "rupert hine"

i like slower chilled out melancholy spacey songs - but if the vocal is right i'm up for almost anything guys Cool

Both from an underrated classic - Moonmadness by Camel...

musically they aren't my thing - but i like spirit of the water's vocal

i think it's safe to say that - there is a style i am looking for - as these bands would do songs like these (which is exactly the things i want to discover) - but they would not represent the rest of the bands discography at all sadly - pink floyd obviously had the most songs like it - but sadly there aren't many bands that sound like the floyd

keep the recommendations coming tho please

i'm looking for that one song to blow me away like when i first heard "us and them"

like i said - there are some very rare exceptions for the right vocal and right reverb delay in the music

like this

Another Camel song that you may like:

King Crimson-Walking On Air:

Some Steve Hackett songs:

"Between the Sunset and the Coconut Palms" is another song by Hackett that I think you may like but I couldn't find a youtube video.

The Llamia is pretty 'minimal' for Genesis purposes;-)

Alright then.  I like all the groups that are mentioned here as well as Devin Townsend.  Devin Townsend's new album Casualties of Cool is super mellow with spacey vocals.

I'm posting this one as much because I love this song and the band although I think its a bit of a long shot for what the OP is looking for so apologies in advance. (also I realise the vocals are more 'Sparky the magic piano' than 'Spacey')

For some reason, here at work, I can't seem to attach videos to my posts. Ah well. As a fan of Floyd's spacey work, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the following three bands:

early Porcupine Tree - like The Sky Moves Sideways (def. some spacey vocals on that album)
RPWL
Eloy

I may try to add some videos when I get home, if I remember.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Eloy don't have 'spacey vocals' though.

I just came across this Scottish band called Preacher.  Here is a link to their album on Spotify.  spotify:album:0GtZDDN7YQkltEy8jVKqrQ" rel="nofollow - Preacher – Signals

The reviews that I have read compare them to Pink Floyd and listening to the album I can certainly hear the influence.
