Like the Road to Red box set, that's alotta King Crimson

IMHO it would have been better to pick the best single complete concert for two discs and then compile the remaining unincluded songs or unique interpretations (if there were any) of the other songs into two more discs if possible. A nice 4 CD pack for fans is all that's really needed. Oh and I guess the obligatory Wilson Remix, so 5 CD's. Not 20 for Pete's sake. It amounts to a Fripp garage sale where you have to buy all his hammers not just the one that works best.

Only 130 Pounds. Much as I love this era of KC I'll stick with 'The Great Deceiver'.

Not really interested in these 'mega box sets'. I mean it's just too much stuff and how good will the quality of the live material actually be? That's the question. Also, the price is a disadvantage to those people who are actually looking for a decent deal. I love King Crimson and own all their studio and official live albums, but I'm not that in dire need of owning every single thing they've recorded live. I think this is just another instance of Fripp trying to milk that cash cow.

Yes, those expensive are becoming a joke and KC is the biggest of all, it's like buying the entire discography 100 times.

I was reading about this new boxset and was very intrigued. Right now Amazon lists the price at $229.95.
There are 19 CDs of live material, a CD of Starless & Bible Black, 2 DVDs of live material and 2 Blu Rays discs of live material. Plus 3 bonus CDs of "bootleg quality" live material and a ticket for another live show of the same quality available as a download. 8 of the live shows have never been released,
However, the downside for me is that I don't really want to replicate anything that was released on The Great Deceiver, which is part of what this set is about. Also, and this is really irritating, there are at least 4 versions of The Night Watch/ Amsterdam show. If you're going to rrelease that many versions of one concert they should have released a separate "Amsterdam" boxset.
I guess I'm just not that much of an audiophile to care about quadrophonic and 5.1 surround mixes, however good they may sound. So, it looks like I'll be passing on this one.

Why does that sound like a Robot Chicken sketch? LOL

But, seriously, I looked at some live stuff and it seems there's only one decent live document per era. I have Absent Lovers, which rules, and the only other ones I want to get are Epitaph, Ladies Of The Road and Great Deceiver. Hopefully, there still in print for the general public.
