Sketches of Spain for me. Wonderful album. I tend to spin it whenever I'm on vacation, and whether that's because of the word 'Spain' actually being in the title, I have no idea, but it does work wonders down on the beach late in the afternoon. I prefer Big Fun over BB. An album which was stitched together from the same sessions as BB - only with a big dash of Indian instruments chugged in. ------------- “The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. Bitches Brew is my favorite Miles Davis album - and one of my favorite albums of all time - so I may be admittedly biased here. It embodies everything I love about both jazz and fusion. The unpredictable genius, the rising volumes and tones, the almost chaotic attack of the instruments; it's the epitome of said style. I'm also a huge fan of records like Zappa Waka/Jawaka, which features the track "Big Swifty", which I've always found to be a sort of nod to Davis and BB. hahahaha PrognosticMind, Bitches Brew is incredible one of my favorites too, I had to pick Sketches of Spain tho' this album was released 10 years prior and nothing like this existed before :) hugs xxxx perfect everything too plus so many tunes, I love tunes. xxxxxxx

Without a doubt, Kati! Sketches of Spain is an incredible record, particularly for the reasons you've mentioned above. It's paralleled with Bitches Brew for the level of innovation it provided for the time it was released. Altough Sketches of Spain is stunning I just find Bitches Brew more exiting. Besides the latter was my first Miles album and has a special place in me getting to know and love jazz. As you enjoy the spanish themed one the most (which was released in 1960, not 59) you should most definitely check out John Coltrane's masterpiece Olé Coltrane from 1961. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z5cRYd1Vr4
