3 stars Two things come to mind when I hear this sole album by OYSTERHEAD.

1) Buckethead. The album title as well as some of the song structures from the 'Monsters and Robots' album which Les Claypool was a part of.

2) Fishbone. Funkiness and bass lines at moments.

Well I also hear lots of Phish and Primus. This is a worthy effort from Les Claypool, Trey Anastasio and Stewart Copeland but they don't seem to bring anything dynamically new to the table.

I'm hearing a lot of borrowing from other sources including previous incarnations of all members involved but hardly anything that makes this a dynamic stand alone release.

That being said, this is an ok collaboration between these three outstanding musicians. I just wish it was a bit more adventurous. Instead of everyone bringing out the best in each other, it seems more like everyone is watered down. I guess even supergroups need an album to warm up.

3 stars nothing more.
