3 stars Super String Theory is a mega unknown and obscure instrumental prog metal band from USA with two albums in their pockets so far. The second offer named Principles of Transformation self released in 2006 is a quite good journy into prog metal realms but far from being excellent. The music has multiple influences, including metal ,jazz, world music and modern classical, a mash that in the end works quite good. The pieces are energic, well played, what lacks is little more intresting passages. Of course there is technical playing here and very diverse material aswell., all 4 musicians can handle the instruements, craftly parts but aswell some less catchy to say the least. Overall a good album, it may be little better if they concentrated more on arrangements then on skills but let's say this is decent work. Every tune might be considered good. A forgotten and unnoticed band for sure. The gatfold artwork is excellent. 3 stras nothing more nothing less. Similarity with italian band Garden Wall at some point.
