2 stars After fellow band members chose to leave the group, keyboard player Vincent Crane made an attempt to keep the molten fire of the last three albums burning. Reforming a new band around ex-Colosseum vocalist Chris Farlowe they were able to offer a solid Atomic Rooster album which was released in 1973. After listening to the album a few times all the songs are undeniably strong, but it is the instrumental track 'Breathless' (with it's cool intro) along with superb piano/guitar interplay, which really stood out for me. I found the british R&B vocal stylings of Chris Farlowe sound slightly out of place on this Rooster album. If a person were silly enough to own just one album by this mostly unknown yet influential band well, I would instantly recommend their second release of 1970, the dark masterpiece 'Death Walks Behind You'.
