5 stars My first contact with Supertramp was in the summer of 1988, when I was on a holiday English course at Torquay, Devon. My host family was a lot into progressive, so I was introduced to artists like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, The Nice, Pink Floyd and Supertramp there. As I had already enjoyed listening to Saga, Queen or The Alan Parsons Project before, I liked them, so I used a significant part of my pocket money on blank 90 minute cassettes and recorded most of the family's music collection.

I'm not sure which Supertramp studio album was my favourite then, as I can remember listening to the live album Paris most often, but with the time Even In The Quietest Moments.... emerged in the pole position. There are three reasons for this. Firstly, there is no weak song on the album. Secondly, From Now On and Fool's Overture were two of my three favourite songs on Paris. And finally, the title track has grown into one of those coveted six star songs. Add the great as usual sound of the album and the even more wonderful performances of Hodgson, Davies and company plus the absolute classic of an album cover (though this is not a standalone feature of Moments..., I also never let the cover influence the rating), and you have an album which deserves at least 4.8 stars.
