3 stars I don't like much compilation or boxsets, but this one is really interesting. The Return of the Manticore compiles maybe the best compositions of ELP in four CD's (beautiful pack anyway) which turns into a nice journey through ELP's career. Maybe good for fans who are recently entering into ELP's world and for older fans an interesting compilation of great musical moments.

The most attractive pieces are the studio version of Pictures at an Exhibition (which appears in the album In the Hot Seat), really enjoyable; the cover of Arthur Brown's Fire and of course the oldies but goldies: Toccata, Trilogy, Tank, Tarkus, a live version of Take A Pebble, Hoedown, The Barbarian, Karn Evil 9 and the great Piano Concerto No. 1.

Anyway, it's a nice compilation in some way neccesary to understand ELP's career and overall, four CD's to enjoy most of the best composition of this legendary band...
