LED ZEPPELIN III

ZEPPELIN entered the 70´s as the band of the decade: rich, famous & electrified. Many important & bombastic gigs and a huge selling were enough reasons to give ZEPPELIN the status of "supergroup". Nobody were wrong. At that time, ZEPPELIN was free to improve it HARD-BLUES and even experience many other ways of produce top-quality rock´n roll music. Considering that in 1970 the band achieved a high level of personality and stage experience, some changes were noticeable in the band production. Page & co. started to play with studio paraphernalia, altough not missing the groovy vein that established them. Jones were free to start using acoustic instruments of fine quality, like many kinds of mandolins (and we should not forget that the guy was a quite nice keyboardist). LED ZEPPELIN III is mainly a semi-acoustic album. And what an album. The great point here is: the band continued to produce high-level hard rock (as IMMIGRANT SONG, an anthem, and CELEBRATION DAY) but Page clearly showed that this album would define a new dressing in ZEPPELIN´S sonority. The kind and gently acoustic atmosphere of brilliant songs like THAT´S THE WAY, TANGERINE, GALLOWS POLE & FRIENDS proved that those guys have much more to offer tham the press and fans could imagine. From the mistic approach of the mainly acoustic songs to the countrysh fellin´of BRON Y AUR STOMP, Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones recriated a new way to make folk music without loose the heavy "solution" that ZEPPELIN found to personalize their style in the 70´s. Before finishing this review we MUST remember that the album carries one of the best hard-rock ballads ever: SINCE I´VE BEEN LOVING YOU, a masterpiece filled by an incredible feelin´of melancholia, totally washed by a harsh and memorable Page´s guitar solo. It´s history my friends, and it´s LED ZEPPELIN III. Get it.
